The Warden
Once upon a time, there were the Constellar. Thirteen individuals blessed with phenomenal power. To keep the world they loved so much protected from the shadows of the Steelswarm, they created the Vylon to maintain the seal and keep the world in harmony. Fast forward into the war that came close to consuming the world, where the Vylons, once holy protectors, had their hive mind infected by the Lswarm Virus, compliments of Gishki Noellia. Their purpose corrupted, the Vylons ended up creating the superweapon Vylon Disgima to devour everything until it was stopped by Gem-Knight Pearl. Trashed, the Vylon were left and forgotten for many ages until remnants of the Lswarm Virus begin to remanifest in organic metal bodies. The Vylon are dead. Long live the Vylswarm! -------------------- The Vylswarm archetype were made to be complimentary to the other Lswarm archetypes, though largely Evilswarm as there is just no saving the Steelswarm. To this end, these LIGHT Machine monsters resemble both creatures of the new, while aiding the creatures of the old. Their main purpose is mass-summoning of non-effect Lswarm monsters for easy fodder for Xyz Summons, while complimenting the old Evilswarm Xyz Monsters with new Xyz Monsters to bolster them with new effects. The theming of Vylswarm naming relates to optical illusions. I don't remember why, but it's very cool nonetheless. Also, the pronounciation of their name is Vileswarm, which you probably already guessed. .:Main Deck Monsters:. Vylswarm Apolinère Puppet LIGHT **** Machine / Tuner / Normal *A DRAGON-SHAPED PUPPET OF UNNATURAL ORIGIN. *ONCE FULL OF QLIPHORT ENERGY, IT IS NOW INERT. *IT WILL SERVE US WELL. ATK: 1950 / DEF: 50 (Based on Shadoll Dragon, Vylswarm Apolinère Puppet is the main Tuner of the deck, fittingly used for 2 in-archetype Synchro monsters, while also being a non-effect monster to be used with the various Rescue Rabbit-like effects of the other Vylswarm monsters.) Vylswarm Penrose Stars LIGHT **** Machine / Effect You can only use each of the following effects of “Vylswarm Penrose Stars” once per turn. *During your Main Phase: You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 2 non-Effect “lswarm” monsters with the same name from your hand, Deck, or GY, but they cannot be used as materials to Summon a monster from the Extra Deck, except “lswarm” monsters. *During the Main Phase, if this card is in your GY, except the turn it was sent there (Quick Effect): You can banish this card; add 1 “lswarm” monster from your Deck to your hand, and if it was a non-Effect Monster, you can add 1 monster with the same name from your Deck or GY to your hand. ATK: 1350 / DEF: 1350 (The Satellarknight addition, based on a fusion of Satellarknights Vega and Deneb with their combined stats halved (and DEF rounded up.) This card's original design was actually going to be an expy of Rescue Rabbit, before I fully grasped the Vylswarm theming around the modern Duel Terminal archetypes. This card is meant for ease of access and be a very basic but useable card, much like the tellarknights themselves. Hence why it's very simple and rewarding to use.) Vylswarm Knotted Wyrmlines LIGHT **** Machine / Effect You can only use each of the following effects of “Vylswarm Knotted Wyrmlines” once per turn. *You can destroy 1 “lswarm” monster or “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card you control or in your hand; add 1 “lswarm” monster from your Deck to your hand. *If this card is destroyed by a card effect: You can Special Summon 1 “lswarm” monster from your hand or Deck, and if it was a non-Effect Monster, you can Special Summon an additional monster with the same name from your hand, Deck, or GY. ATK: 1650 / DEF: 50 (Naturally there would be a Yang Zing addition, this one I think is based on Bi'an, thought I can't say for sure. Hmm. Much like Penrose Stars, this is more good-stuff special summoning meant to bring out Apolinère Puppet or Evilswarm Heliotrope. Basically just more easy Xyz stuff inspired by the Yang Zing blowing themselves up for value.) Vylswarm Quandary Tamer LIGHT **** Machine / Effect You can only use each of the following effects of “Vylswarm Quandary Tamer” once per turn. *(Quick Effect): You can add 1 of your banished “lswarm” monsters to your hand, then, if it was a non-Effect Monster, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower “lswarm” monster from your GY. *You can banish 1 “lswarm” monster from your GY; Special Summon 1 “lswarm” monster from your GY, then, if it was a non-Effect Monster, you can add 1 “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. ATK: 1650 / DEF: 1650 (And after Yang Zing comes Ritual Beast (Tamers). This one is Ritual Beast Tamer Elder + Ritual Beast Cannahawk with their combined stats +50/+50 for that lswarm goodness. Naturally, this card is more advantage for the player that requires you to be a little set up first, but is still very beneficial to you in grabbing an Infestation card.) Vylswarm Trident EX LIGHT **** Machine / Effect You can only use each of the following effects of “Vylswarm Trident EX” once per turn. *You can reveal this card in your hand; Special Summon 1 “lswarm” monster from your GY with its effect negated (if any), then, if you Special Summoned a non-Effect Monster with this effect, you can Special Summon this card. *During your Main Phase, if this card is in your GY, except the turn it was sent there: You can banish 1 “lswarm” monster from your GY; add this card to your hand, also, you can Normal Summon 1 “lswarm” monster as an additional Normal Summon/Set this turn. ATK: 2050 / DEF: 1050 (Last of the lot, this is naturally Nekroz Exa. I recall being a little stumped with the effect, but this felt like it worked as useable GY recovery with a bit of a twist. Once more it bolsters and rewards usage of the non-effect lswarm monsters. Not much else I can say. The extra NS is just the cherry on top to combo with Evilswarm Castor and/or Evilswarm Kerykeion.)[/spoiler] .:Extra Deck Monsters:. Vylswarm Disigma LIGHT DL / D / DR Machine / Effect 2+ “lswarm” monsters Once per turn: You can target 1 “lswarm” monster or 1 “Infestation” Spell/Trap card in either player’s GY; if the target was a monster, Special Summon it to your field, otherwise, Set the target in your Spell & Trap Zone, and if it is a Trap Card or a Quick-Play Spell Card, they can be activated this turn. If this card was Link Summoned using 3 “lswarm” monsters (1 “Steelswarm”, 1 “Evilswarm”, and 1 “Vylswarm”) as materials, apply the following effects. *The names of all monster cards in your opponent’s GY becomes “Vylswarm Supplicant”, and the names of all Spell/Trap Cards in your opponent’s GY becomes “Infection Insurrection”. *Negate the activated effects of cards your opponent controls that activate or resolve in the GY. ATK: 2550 / DEF: LINK-3 (It wouldn't be a revival of the Vylons without the big bad of the set, now acting as the new controller of the entire Vylswarm horde. Vylswarm Disigma continues its habit of stealing things from the GY with a fun and somewhat rewarding twist. Naturally this bad bird is intended to be used as the next part of the ladder after Steelswarm Origin, and with good plays you create this very useful stun tool as you screw over noisome cards that activate and/or resolve in the GY. This card is also intended to mess with GY-specific cards by changing names to prevent certain in-archetype plays. I felt this made it a more fitting boss monster, considering you need 4 monsters to make it effectively.) Vylswarm Brio?hamat? LIGHT R**** Machine / Xyz / Effect 2 “lswarm” monsters This card can be used as Material for the Xyz Summon of a non-LIGHT “lswarm” Xyz Monster. (Transfer this card’s materials to the Summoned monster.) If you would discard a card to activate the effect of a “lswarm” monster or “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card, you can detach 1 material from this card instead. An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card as material gains this effect. *If you would detach a material from this card to activate its effect, you can banish 1 “Vylswarm” monster from your GY instead. ATK: 2350 / DEF: 1450 (The naming behind this card and the other 2 Vylswarm dragons is because the Vylswarm became confused of what monster they were supposed to be recreating. Is it Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrior? Or Evilswarm Bahamut? Both records are true, so that's what you get. The purpose of this card is to be used as material for Evilswarm Bahamut, to bolster its effect. Though more often than not you'd probably just summon Evilswarm Ophion instead, but hey, it's the thought that counts.) Vylswarm Gung?hion? LIGHT R**** Machine / Xyz / Effect 2 “lswarm” monsters This card can be used as Material for the Xyz Summon of a non-LIGHT “lswarm” Xyz Monster. (Transfer this card’s materials to the Summoned monster.) Once per turn: You can select 1 “lswarm” monster in your GY; attach it to this card as material, also, if it was a non-Effect Monster, you can add 1 monster with the same name from your Deck or GY to your hand. An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card as material gains this effect. *While this card has material, your opponent cannot Special Summon monsters with 1500 or less ATK. ATK: 2550 / DEF: 1750 (Is it Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrioer? Is it Evilswarm Ophion? It's both. This little nasty's purpose is to load up extra materials for when it becomes food for Evilswarm Ophion's effect. Naturally, this card has a complimentary effect to Ophion while trying to not be too overwhelming as you lock out both players from SSing level 5 or higher monsters, or monsters with 1500 or less ATK. The search effect also parallels Ophion's searching on Infestation S/Ts by technically searching the endless horde of non-effect lswarm monsters. Vylswarm Trish?boros? LIGHT R**** Machine / Xyz / Effect 3 “lswarm” monsters This card can be used as Material for the Xyz Summon of a non-LIGHT “lswarm” Xyz Monster. (Transfer this card’s materials to the Summoned monster.) When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can take 1 “lswarm” monster from your Deck, GY, or that is banished, and add it to your hand. An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card as material gains this effect. *When this card activates an effect that would take a card from your opponent’s hand, field, or GY and send it elsewhere, you can detach 1 material from this card to apply that effect to an additional card. ATK: 2750 / DEF: 2050 (Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier? Evilswarm Ouroboros? Neither and both! This little beauty helps improves Ouroboros' specific effects by being able to use them effectively twice to circumvent Ouroboros locking itself out of each effect. The awkward wording of the last effect is largely to avoid having Bahamut being able to steal 2 monsters for the price of a discard.) Evylswarm Kerykeion DARK ******** Machine / Synchro / Effect “Vylswarm Apolinère Puppet” + 1+ non-Tuner DARK monsters When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy 1 card on the field. You can only use each of the following effects of “Evylswarm Kerykeion” once per turn. *(Quick Effect): You can banish 1 monster from each player’s GY (including 1 “lswarm” monster), and if you do, you can destroy 1 monster your opponent controls with ATK or DEF (your choice) lower than the combined ATK of the banished monsters. *At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a monster: You can destroy that monster, and if this card was attacking, it can make a second attack this Battle Phase. *When this card is destroyed by your opponent’s card: You can Special Summon 1 “Evylswarm Sombre” from your GY. ATK: 2600 / DEF: 2550 (Behold the one and only DARK Vylswarm monster, fittingly named with a portmanteau of Evilswarm and Vylswarm. Evylswarm Kerykeion, named after its Evilswarm counterpart, is filling its role as the being whole stole the power of destruction from Goddess of Rebirth, Sophia herself. Keeping it restricted to only using Apolinère Puppet as the Tuner felt fair to avoid a freebie non-targetting destruction on summon, as well as a plethora of useful abilities including GY sweeping and basically being a Catastor. The last effect is a fun idea I had inspired by Sun Dragon Inti and Moon Dragon Quilla, where destruction and rebirth cycle through each other.) Evylswarm Sombre LIGHT ******** Machine / Synchro / Effect “Vylswarm Apolinère Puppet” + 1+ non-Tuner LIGHT monsters You can only use each of the following effects of “Evylswarm Sombre” once per turn. *When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can take 1 “lswarm” monster from your GY, and either add it to your hand, or Special Summon it to your field. *(Quick Effect): You can take 1 banished “lswarm” monster in your possession and place it in your GY or the bottom of your Deck; draw 1 card. *You can banish 1 “lswarm” monster from your GY; take 1 banished “lswarm” monster in your possession and add it to your hand, then, you can send 1 “lswarm” monster with DEF less than the added monster’s ATK from your Deck to your GY. *When this card is destroyed by your opponent’s card: You can Special Summon 1 “Evylswarm Kerykeion” from your GY. ATK: 2550 / DEF: 2600 (With destruction comes creation, and thus Evylswarm Combre (I could NOT think of a good pun relating to Vylswarm and Constellar beyond Constelswarm, but that just sounds lame and doesn't use vyl. As a corrupted source of life itself, Sombre uses life to take and create life, filtering out more bodies into the GY to be used for various card effects. I originally had her first effect be not hard OPT, but in hindsight, it'd be too easy to keep reviving Apolinère Puppet to churn out more of her.) .:Spell/Trap Cards:. Infestation Reinforcing Infection Normal Spell You can only activate 1 “Infestation Reinforcing Infection” per turn. Apply 1 of the following effects: *Add 1 “lswarm” monster from your Deck to your hand. *Discard 1 card; add 2 “lswarm” monsters from your Deck to your hand. (Bog standard RotA card, which every archetype needs. This card's man use is to get easy access to Evilswarm Castor and Evilswarm Kerykeion, for fun extra NS shenanigans with the Vylswarm monsters, such as Penrose Stars. And to also try and start filling up your grave with the more rewarding double search.) Infestation Resurrecting Infection Quick-Play Spell Apply 1 of the following effects: *Take 2 “lswarm” monsters and/or “Infestation” Spell/Trap Cards in your possession from your GY or that are banished and shuffle them into your Deck; draw 1 card. *Take 4 “lswarm” monsters and/or “Infestation” Spell/Trap Cards in your possession from your GY or that are banished and shuffle them into your Deck; draw 2 cards. When an “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card is sent to your GY (either by being destroyed by a card effect or by resolving successfully) while this card is in the GY, except the turn it was sent there: You can banish this card from your GY; add 1 card with the same name as the sent card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of “Infestation Resurrecting Infection” once per turn. (I've had some personal misgivings with this card, I'll admit. A Pot of Avarice isn't really that great, but I felt there was sufficient dumping and banishing to justify the effect. Likewise, the GY effect is to make the card a little less useless by having a powerful copying effect to get more copies of your Infestation cards,) Refined Infestation Continuous Spell “lswarm” Xyz Monsters can be Xyz Summoned with 1 less Material. (You can only gain this effect once per Xyz Summon.) You can discard 1 “lswarm” monster or “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card; add 1 “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Refined Infestation” once per turn. (One of the main powers behind the Vylswarm Xyz. This baby allows you to basically Chaos Xyz Change Brio?hamut? and Gung?hion? of off themselves alone, allowing for faster and more potent plays while also having this card be useful in filling up your grave and searching at the same time. I am considering maybe making this apply to 1 Xyz Summon per turn though. Also I think in my original designs it was this card that let you use the Vylswarm Xyz as materials, but I figured it'd be too technical to rely on this card for the overlaying effect.) Infestation Forward Infection Continuous Spell During either player’s Main Phase: You can Special Summon 1 “lswarm” monster from your hand. If this card is sent to the GY: You can add 1 “Infestation” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand, except "Infestation Forward Infection". You can only use each effect of “Infestation Forward Infection” once per turn. (I don't remember why I made this card. I think it was largely as filler but in useful way. A sort of card you run 1 of to act as bait for your opponent.) Origins of Infestation Field Spell “lswarm” monsters gain 350 ATK/DEF. When you Normal Summon a “lswarm” monster: You can add 1 monster with the same name from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, when a “lswarm” monster is sent to the GY: You can add 1 “lswarm” monster with a different name from your Deck to your hand. (The real meat of the things, I wanted the lswarm to have a powerful field spell that rewards them for mass normal summoning their monsters to avoid exhausting their hands on plays that could easily be ruined by cards like Nibiru. I kept this purely to Normal Summons, in order to promote smart usage of Evilswarm Castor and Kerykeion.) Infestation Paradox Counter Trap When your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card, while you only control “lswarm” monsters (min. 1): You can banish 2 “lswarm” monsters and/or “Infestation” Spell/Trap Cards from your GY; negate the activation, and if you do, your opponent cannot activate the effect(s) of cards with the same name as the negated card for the rest of the duel. (Yeah, Imma be honest, not sure about this one. Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spelling any S/T is a ludicrously powerful effect, but I felt that since you had to set it for a turn, maybe that justified that level of power? I dunno, I might delete this card.)
