Black D'Sceptyr
So yeah, new World Premieres. Definitely, these Libromancers I've seen hold a lot of promise, and not just because of the possible Panty & Stocking implications. Low-investment, consistent loops did help the Dragonmaids become the hair-pulling annoyance they are on Master duel, and they should be able to work similar with these guys. Also because they are downright squad goals and I like that. Main Issues I see with them, though, is the classic Ritual conundrum - You invest and then it's easy to wax off the investment. Well that and the whole 'dying to any focused Spell negation' thing. Tis the fate of all Ritual Decks not named Megalith. Still, I like to think that Libromancers are, and can still be, Built Different™. So here's four cards to make full use of the horror henre of books for the Libromancers to recognize (after all, they do need a nemesis), and see just how much people can be spooked by in this archetype. Libromancer Spook/DARK/Beast-Warrior-Type Effect Monster/Level 9/1900 ATK/1900 DEFLore: You can reveal 1 Ritual Monster in your hand: Special Summon this card from your hand. (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card from your hand or 1 other "Libromancer" monster you control, then activate 1 of these effects; ● Destroy 1 "Libromancer" card in your Deck or 1 Set card on the field. ● Special Summon 1 non-DARK "Libromancer" monster from your GY. You can only use each effect of "Libromancer Spook" once per turn. Libromancer Plot Twist/Ritual Spell CardLore: This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Libromancer" Ritual Monster from your hand or GY. You must also Tribute monsters from your field, and/or banish 1 "Libromancer" monster from your GY, whose total Levels equal or exceed its Level. This effect, and the effect of any "Libromancer" monster Ritual Summoned with this card, cannot be negated. If a "Libromancer" monster(s) you control with the same Level as a monster in your GY would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead. Libromancer Takeover/Continuous Trap CardLore: While you control a "Libromancer" Ritual Monster, "Libromancer" Spells you control cannot be targeted, or banished, by card effects, also, the first time each turn that each "Libromancer" monster you control would be destroyed by battle, they are not. If this card is destroyed: You can Special Summon 1 "Libromancer" monster from your hand or Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions, but it cannot attack directly, also return it to the hand during the End Phase. You can only use this effect of "Libromancer Takeover" once per turn. Libromancer Vileresident/LIGHT/Zombie-Type Ritual Effect Monster/Level 9/3800 ATK/3800 DEFLore: You can Ritual Summon this card with a "Libromancer" card. If this card is added to your hand, except by drawing it, and you control another "Libromancer" card: You can return 1 card on the field to the hand. If this card is Ritual Summoned by using a monster(s) on the field: You can look at both players' Extra Decks and send up to 2 monsters from them to the GY. You can only use each effect of "Libromancer Vileresident" once per turn. As always, folks, may the reviews and revelry arrive in abundance. BD'S, signing off.
