Key Wielders: Spells&Traps - A Kingdom Hearts based Archetype (PART 2)

Continuation from:

Next we have the Spell&Trap zone of the archetype. Nothing crazy or shapeshifting here, just some minimal support in some areas. Most of them tribute to activate, and have a secondary effect dependant of the Type and Attribute of the monster.

DIVE TO THE HEART

Field Spell Card

(This card is always treated as a "Key" Spell card)

(1) Pay 1300 Life Points to activate this card from your hand, then each Standby Phase pay 700 Life Points (This is not optional) or banish this card.

(2) While this card stays face-up on the field: Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to the Special summoning of "Key Wielder" monsters.

This gives some protection to your Main Deck plays, but cannot protect activated effects or your Normal Summon; Pretty situational, but didn't want it to be busted.

HEART OF A PRINCESS

Quick-Play Spell Card

(This card is always treated as a "Key" Spell card)

(1) Tribute a "Key" Monster in your hand or Field; All monsters your opponent controls lose 1300 ATK and DEF.

(2) If the tributed monster was a LIGHT Fairy-Type monster: You can banish a card in your opponent's Graveyard or return one of your banished card to your Graveyard.

A Quick-Play that helps you get over a monster too big for your Xyz, or permanently debuff an unremovable boss monster. If the tributed monster was "Sora" or "Kairi" you get a small bonus, but situational.

KEY XYZ RE:BIRTH

Quick-Play Spell Card

You can activate only 1 "Key Xyz Re:Birth" per turn.

(1) If a "Key" Xyz monster was sent to the Graveyard this turn: Special summon that monster in Defense position, and if you do, attach this card to it as material.

(2) If the summoned monster was a DARK Warrior-Type Monster: You can target a card in your opponent's Graveyard and attach it to the summoned Xyz monster as material.

A second chance for your Xyz to dominate the board, while they do gain a material, they do lose their bonus effects from being Xyz summoned with certain materials. If the Special summoned Xyz is "Riku" you get a 2nd material.

VECTOR TO THE HEAVENS

Counter Trap Card

You can activate only 1 "Vector to the Heavens" per turn.

(1) If your opponent activates a monster effect: You can tribute a "Key" monster you control; Negate that monster's effects for the rest of the turn.

(2) If the tributed monster was a EARTH Machine-Type monster: You can add a "Key" Spell card to your hand.

An archetype-specific Solemn Strike, but worse. If you tributed "Xion" you can add one of the 3 previous Spells, still very niche application.

Next we have a Sub-Archetype comprised of 5 Spell cards: The Dearly. These cards are not "Key" Cards, but they do have a dedicated searcher:998979989_VanitasBladeoftheOrganization.jpeg.thumb.jpg.97a9d930798cee5502b1c6b84b228360.jpg

VANITAS, BLADE OF THE ORGANIZATION

ATTRIBUTE: Dark    LEVEL: 3

[Fiend/Effect]

(This card is always treated as a "Key" monster)

You can use each effect of "Vanitas, Blade of the Organization" once per turn.

(1) (Quick Effect): You can tribute this card; Special summon a Level 3 WIND Fairy-Type monster from your Deck.

(2) You can banish this and another card from your Graveyard; Set a "Dearly" Spell card from your Deck to your Field.

1300 ATK/700 DEF

Vanitas is part of another sub-archetype which are part of another strategy this archetype has, but that I will talk about another time. You can tribute "Vanitas" to search any Level 3 Wind Fairy, so not only "Ventus", but not sure about any good targets. Otherwise, this search your "Dearly" spells which are pretty good.

DEARLY BELOVED

Normal Spell Card

You can activate "Dearly Beloved" only once per turn.

(1) Banish a "Key" monster from your Deck; Then add to your hand a "Key" monster from your Graveyard with a different original name.

While there aren't any good targets to banish yet, you could banish "Vanitas" and return it to the Graveyard through "Heart of a Princess" and get a 2nd search through Vanitas. Either way, a nice way to recycle your Grave.

DEARLY REUNITED

Normal Spell Card

You can activate only 1 "Dearly Reunited" per turn.

(1) Target 1 "Key" Xyz monster you control and detach a number of Xyz Materials from it, then apply one of the following effects depending of the number of detached Xyz Materials:

•1: Banish a monster your opponent controls until the End Phase; •2: Target 2 Monsters with 1300 ATK and 700 DEF in your Graveyard, Special summon them but their effects are negated; •3: Draw 2 Cards;

A versatile Spell that virtually gives your Xyz even more effects: A non-targeting banish that can remove stat buffs, equip spells or Xyz Materials from an opponent monsters and even giving you OTK opportunity; a follow-up to maybe make a 2nd Xyz monster; or a Pot of Greed, if you are that Greedy.

DEARLY REMINDED

Quick-Play Spell Card

You can activate only 1 "Dearly Reminded" per turn.

(1) Target 1 monster your opponent controls, then equip that target with a "Key" monster in your Deck or Graveyard.

(2) As long as the equipped monster stays up on the field it can't attack, and when it leaves the field Special summon the equipped card to your field.

An elaborate way to search or reborn your monsters which can also save you in a pinch, by either negating a fatal attack, or just giving you a body on board if you know your opponent is gonna tribute for their combo. You can even Special summon Extra Deck monsters from your Grave.

DEARLY OPPOSED

Quick-Play Spell Card

You can activate only 1 "Dearly Opposed" per turn.

(1) Tribute a monster from your hand or Field with 1300 ATK and 700 DEF; then Special summon a monster from your Deck with a different original Attribute and Type, but negate its effects.

(2) If the tributed monster was a WIND or DARK monster: Special summon it in Defense Position from your Graveyard, but it has its effects negated.

(3) You cannot Special summon monsters the turn you activate this card, except "Key" monsters.

A free Special summon if you tribute from your hand, and even better if the target was either "Ventus" or "Vanitas". This card does restrict you in only "Key" monsters for the turn (Otherwise you could go nuts with it), but you can use it in your opponent's turn to kind of circumvent this.

1531660346_DearlyMemorized.jpeg.thumb.jpg.8e135692e3ca1379db62497d242a8d01.jpg

DEARLY MEMORIZED

Normal Spell Card

You can only activate 1 "Dearly Memorized" per turn.

(1) If you Normal summoned a "Key" monster this turn: You can add a "Key" monster from your Graveyard to the hand during the End Phase of this turn.

(2) If the Normal summoned monster was a FIRE monster: You can add up to 2 "Key" monster instead.

An okay way to recycle your Grave for a follow-up, since this Deck isn't really an OTK archetype. If you Normal Summoned "Axel" even better! Either way, you probably would play only 1 copy of this card.

I like the concept and the cards aren't entirely broken, but there is one main deck monster. IDK if your planning on making more so yeah. I'm just making obvious observations.

This is the continuation of another post I made. At the top ot this post I put a link to the first one, where I wrote about all Main Deck and Extra Deck monsters

Hello! I'll edit in some responses to cards below!

Dive to the Heart: Definitely situational. Haven't seen the other cards yet, but I hope there's some ideas revolving around Special Summons; otherwise, this card won't fit. Works on its own, though!

Heart of a Princess: Whoa! I' m glad you can only activate one of these per turn; this is powerful! I feel like removing 1300 ATK and DEF from a monster just by tributing an Archetype monster from your field (or HAND, that's pretty powerful) is almost too easy, and that's disregarding the extra effect!

Key Xyz Re:Birth: Cool name! Scrap what I said earlier here, It was a mistake!

Vector to the Heavens: These secondary effects are VERY situational, and seem to have very strict guidelines, making it very hard to do a combo with this Archetype, seemingly. Another cool name, and another working effect! Since special summoning is often used, as you said, this should be useful!

Vanitas, Blade of the Organization: Never thought I'd hear a monster with a name like that. Interesting! These cards have extremely specific effects, and it's very clear when they are targeted towards a specific monster. The effects work, though! I'm guessing the intention is to use both effects in a row, since there's specifically no limit to if you can only use 1 effect of the monster per turn?

Dearly Beloved: Good Graveyard Recycle for this Archetype! I haven't seen the first set of cards yet, so I'm sure this comes in handy with those, but I saw this coming into conflict with the effects of Vanitas. If I'm wrong, though, just forget that I said this and ignore me!

Dearly Reunited: Great card! I almost feel like drawing 2 cards ISN'T worthy of the most costly slot, though...

Dearly Reminded: Maybe have the effects of the equipped monster negated once it's Special Summoned? Because that is almost too much, in my opinion. Definitely brutal on your opponent, though!

Dearly Opposed: I have NEVER seen a more card-specific Archetype in my life. Not that it's a bad thing! Not sure how useful this card is, considering that you could just play the card in your hand and keep the effects rather than gain an identical monster with no effects...Still functional! (Disregard ALL OF THIS if the levels are actually differentiated LOL)

Dearly Memorized: I can't be sure if this amount of recycling is needed until I look over the first set of cards, but I'm not sure why Dearly Beloved even exists (Unless monsters have high levels, if so DISREGARD ALL OF THIS LOL) if you can just mainly use this to do the same thing, no Banishment required. Good card!

Over all, great job with these cards! :D

Key Xyz Re:Birth: Cool name! There should probably be something specifying this can be treated as a monster for XYZ material.

Thanks for the feeback!

If you haven't seen it yet, there's a part 1 to this topic going over all Main Deck monsters and their love for Special Summoning.

The more and more I think of a Heart of a Princess and more strong do I realize it is; Instead of 1300 I was thinking of 700 instead (Keeping with the theme)

Not sure what you mean about Key Xyz Re:Birth. The card functions like "Xyz Reborn" in the fact that it Special summons a monster, then attaches itself as Xyz Material.

For Vanitas I actually miswrote the written effect in respect to the card. It misses an "except the turn it was sent there". Also Vanitas can banish "Dearly Beloved" for its own effect.

Dearly reunited drawing 2 effect is almosf kind of a joke, you could do some weird extension plays, but nothing much, Originally it had a win condition if you detached 20 materials!

Dearly Reminded is made because the Main Deck monsters can often brick if the Normal summon is negated, so I thought they should need help in this scenario.

And Dearly Opposed it's not too specific once you see the Main Deck monsters. And its main purpose is to put bodies around, especially for Link summons, and you can gain their effect back with said Link monster.

Dearly memorized is just very slow in comparison to Beloved, so you have your choice: Slow and no cost, or Fast and cost.

Whoops, sorry! For some reason, I thought the spell card itself was being attached! I misread the card. Sorry for the confusion!

EDIT: Done with my responses! Check above!

You'd be right in thinking that, Spells and Traps can do that thanks to certain cards like Xyz Reborn and Number 90: Galaxy Eyes Photon Lord
