「tea.leaf」
how old was austin kumlan when he won nats (it was nats wasn't it?) against emon? he looked 8-9...i think he was older tho.Austin Kulman is some 13-year-old kid that lives around here. He has about as much creativity as a copying machine. I would know, he lives where I do, and I've never seen him play a deck that he didn't rip off of the internet. Little brat is sooo spoiled. >..>
EHERO Andrew
I first "started" playing Yugioh when I was like 9 or 10... The first Deck I had was the Seto Kaiba Starter Deck... Anyway, I think 6+ kids can play if they watched the anime (Yugioh or GX)... and I think that is the point of it... I never read the Rulebook, I watched the anime and understood how to play. Though I had to read the cards themselves and realize that the effects were different from the anime... The point is, they can learn how to play the game through what they see... I work for Wal-Mart and I found these "Yugioh Master Guide" DVD's in the Yugioh card sections... These DVDs show beginners how to play and stuff. So my conclusion is that kids can play, but they should understand it first. Like driving...
DarkRemix14
Well. Maybe they want more people to play the game so they're targeting 6 year-olds. well yeah, that is true....
The Dark One
The following changes should be made to the Yugioh TCG to promote an increase in the number of a players and a decrease in the disdain for players held by the general teenage/adult population: 1. Censorship should end. Newly released English cards should be printed as their Japanese counterparts are. Previous English cardsshould be reprinted in uncensored form and/or any new production of old packs should be done in uncensored form. 2. Anime censorship should end. Anime is actually very popular. Shows like Bleach and Naruto aren't only watched by the same "nerds" that play Yugioh, etc. They have a very large mainstream fanbase. The Yugioh anime would be similar if censorship was ended, and the anime was set to play at a later time. Also, it would help if the main character didn't use sheet like Elemental Heroes. The Yugioh Anime actually has a fairly unique and interesting basis. (A card game within a show) It is ridiculous that they are destroying the potential their show has by catering to younger players/watchers. When popular respect for the Anime grows, popular respect will also grow for the cardgame itself. 3. The age limit on packs should be raised to 10+ or 12+. Fewer parents of younger players will purchase Yugioh cards for their children. This may seem bad for business at first, but keep in mind the consequences of a reduction in the number of younger players: If fewer younger players play Yugioh, it will become less clearly a game for children. Many teenagers or adults do not play the game simply because of their perception that the game is childish. Eliminate this perception, and you have now eliminated the barrier that prevented them from playing. Also, contrary to previous posts in this thread, starting a player young (outside of a family with older siblings or parents that play) will actually make it less likely for that child to play the game as he/she ages. Young players often do not know how to play the game, but buy cards because of the pictures and/or play a modified version of the game that is more role-playing oriented, where they pretty much do whatever they want. Do to this, they will inevitably drop the game once they have grown passed the period of their life where pretty pictures and gay Anime heroes are no longer a reason to play a game. Of course, starting out in a Yugioh family, so to speak, does not have the same result. It is perfectly acceptable for a younger child to play the game, as long as they are playing the game. We want Yugioh to be a game for teenagers/adults being spread to young children, rather than a game for young children being spread to teenagers/adults. Agreed on all points, especially the ones regarding the anime. While I don't like E-Heroes either, there are a few that are good. Also, yeah, it's unfortunate the main character uses some of the crappiest Hero cards, but hey, wouldn't be pretty anti-climactic to the anime if he ran a DAD deck or something to that effect and won in 2 or 3 turns? For the sake of anime, they've got to make it last longer, so heroes are unfortunately appropriate. But still, I agree with you.
Lazer Yoshi
That's idiotic. My Brother played Yugioh at age 4, and did very well. He beat me with a FIRE Deck, which was very well made, my brother made sure to have the right cards and certain amount of cards in his deck. Kids under 6 have lots of potentional. It's probably because of "Dark" Powers and "Woman" dressed weirdly. Get over it people. The game isnt bad, not at all. This Game can be for all ages.I also agree with the anime. Censorship makes Anime not-so-Anime. Cussing and violence is what makes an anime. Not helping your Friends defeat Evil, just to bond with your Cards and love them. It's disturbing. Next thing you know, 4kids will be doing a SSBB Cartoon where Mario tells kids to eat right.
JesusofChaos™
The Dark One on the age limit point, i dont think it will make a difference. GTA 4 has an age limit of 18+ on it and ive seen kids of 10-12 with it. Age limits dont work because they are not enforced properly.
