Nine Lives

Continuous Spell

You can only control 1 "Nine Lives". When this card is activated: Place 9 Life Counters on this card. While this card is face-up on the field: It is unaffected by other card effect and cannot leave the field. If you would take damage: Remove 1 Life Counter on this card instead. If this card has no Life Counter on it: You lose the Duel.

I get the similarity to the name, but I'd say this card is too powerful, merely because of the amount of Counters you get. Having 9 seems to be a little too much.

To the contrary I think not only is the number of lives thematic it also is well balanced. If you are playing against trickstars you're basically dead! This would also be a cool card to force your opponent to use somehow. It's a cool counter to decks that just try to do 1 large instance of damage.

I think this can be abused though. FOr example using it 8 times then getting some form of spell removal

Nvm, i realised that you have to use it if you take damage, and not you decide. Still has potential to be broken i think

cool concept of "Nine Lives" it is broken but you cant stop its effect you dont have a choice to use the effect so yeah

also (not trying to be a ***hole here is a different version that i made up)you could put this effect instead

You can only remove one "Life" counter from this card per turn. If this card has no "Life" Counters: You automatically lose the Duel.

tell me what you think of this? does this defeat the purpose of what your card is trying to do? or does it seem more fair also fixed some spelling errors

Also it is unaffected by card effects and "Can't leave the field" (which creates some ruling nightmares like tributing it with true draco), so you have to use it all nine times.

The "If you would lose the duel" clause is hard to work with because most conditions that would make that happen like deck out... you remove a counter and you still can't draw a card, your opponent still has exodia, that one ghostrick, or that one gimmick puppet. Also one counter per turn is harsh and you don't choose it is only the first instance of damage!

I think the best solution would be if the card didn't have counters and left the field and just kept a hidden tally somehow... would need a special mechanic.
