Nameless [WRITTEN]

Nameless

Trap

The names of all cards in both players possession become "Nameless" until the End Phase of the next turn. If this card is destroyed or banished by your opponent's card: You can Set 1 "Nameless" from your Deck.

Probably the least experimental/oddball card of a set that I came up with today. I actually thought that this one could have some real relevance irl.

Card grammar: End Phase capitalized, the rest is perfect.

Sooo... this card is scary as heck. Every single archetypal card becomes Nameless, and thus it doesn't count for any effect that designate cards with the archetype in the name. In addition, every single Extra Deck monster that requires a specific monster as material for a Summon becomes "Nameless" and impossible to Summon until the End Phase x_x. I don't know, it sounds pretty damn strong, but the crucial point of this card is " until the End Phase of the next turn". So, you activate it around the start of your opponent's Main Phase 1 during turn 2 of the Duel (you as the turn 1 player) and get screwed yourself next turn, or you activate it at your End Phase of (turn 3) and your opponent gets royally screwed xD. The only thing needed to bust this card was that somehow the wording allowed the Setting of the other Nameless to happen before the first Nameless left the field, because you'd be able to Set literally any card in your Deck lol.

I like it. It prevents cards that retrieve/support specific archetype/name support for the turn, Weakens up King of Skull Servants, stops Dark Magician support out cold for a turn, Harpie cards get their cushions pulled from under their feet when they think they are about to search 3 cards during the End Phase. Alternatively, it also makes specific-name themes like Dark Magician play for a turn under "Prohibition".... or actually question: Can you use Prohibition to name "nameless" and then flip this card on their turn or does Prohibition have to name an existing card? lol

It's not a super enjoyable... it's outright nasty in some cases, but it is so in the same manner as Dimensional Barrier. Which leads me to believe that'd be about the amount of impact it'd have.

Thanks for the grammar check, Ray!

Since the card is chainable, if you chain the card to the opponent's Spell/Trap removal, you should be able to Set any card from your Deck (the "Nameless" effect resolves, then the destruction happens triggering the Set effect).

Soooo, it basically prevents your opponent from adding cards by card effects.

More/less. It obviously doesn't do anything against generic type-based searchers, but it cripples archetypes.

Well, the card itself is named "Nameless", so you should be able to call Nameless with Prohibition. That'd be an extremely nasty lock.

I guess the upside/downside of it is that it locks the user as well, but if the player has an established board already, that isn't really an issue.
