2 "Trickstar" Link Monsters
You cannot Summon/Set monsters to any Extra Monster Zone this card points to. Monsters this card points to are treated as "Trickstar" Monster when used as Link Material. If a  "Trickstar" monster you control inflicts battle or effect damage to your opponent; you can target all monsters this card points too: Immediately after this effect resolves, Link Summon 1 "Trickstar" Link Monster using only this card, and the targeted monsters. You can only Special Summon "Trickstar Idol Peony" once per turn.

 

 

Concept details (fluff):

I came up with this after a friend of mine took trickstars to locals. He had fun but complained to about how lackluster the archetype is compared to just about anything else.

The card is an obvious reference to I:P, and I was lucky enough to find the Itho Peony plant. The name sake suits the functions of the card well because of its hybrid status, made from crossing two other peony breeds together. Oh, and it has a white variant - lucky that: I didn't have to as far as doing photomanipulation.

I went with changing the "Itoh" into "Icon" to fit in with the (religion-associated) naming convention of the rest of the link monsters. It's really unfortunate that "Peon" doesn't have a positive connotation, or I'd have used that in the name instead.

Function detail (crunch):

Not intended as archetype repair or anything, but it raises the ceiling on what they can do by giving the deck an interruption of sorts as well as extension plays. At the very least you can try to link away a dragoon or zues (but like the rest of deck - it's on trickstar terms, rather then yours) or push for game... maybe.

The 2 links requirement fits in with how much how much "win more" the rest of the deck is, but on the bright side you can go into it with a single 'live stage', 'festival' or 'nightshade' normal summon (if you insist on running it).

I'll admit I'm not exactly sold on giving a mix of I:P and unchained rage a 2k body, but whatever - I had to give my friend something. I don't think it actually matters with this particular archetype. Took ATK down to 1800 cause I thought 2k was just a bit high.

 

Thoughts? comments? am I way off the mark? did I miss anything? I'd be happy to hear it.

While breaking the extra link mechanics in some way would be cool, I literally copy-pasted the text from Zeroboros - so no.

Edit: unless you mean the opponent's extra-link... I mean, sure? the script for that anime duel would be legendary

I realized after I said it your opponent would have to be stupid enough to extra link while you controlled this card. because you would need another link in EMZ to get it to the middle monster zone.

But "You cannot..." Restricts the controller of the card not their opponent (Which means that line only prevents you from summoning to an extra monster zone if it points to one). So theoretically it still could happen.

Also one last little thing "using materials monsters you control..."

You can blame the TCG translation for I:P for that tidbit. I am considering changing the text to make it closer soul of rage though, slight nerf if go with it but would be a bit less confusing.
