I think I've won enough card contests to have a handle on how to run one so let's find out together whether that's true or not. So strap in and hang on tight because I'm going to run things a little diferently here. ;)

 

[spoiler=The Rules]

1. Participants will create between 6 and 10 cards for their submission. These cards are to be Realistic and Balanced.

2. Participants have no restrictions on the kinds of cards they must create other than that the subject matter/source material must be taken from an anime and that they cannot be a violation of existing forum rules. This means any combination of Normal Monsters(which better be brilliant or at least have a support card to make them worth it), Effect Monsters, Tuner Monsters, Fusion Monsters, Ritual Monsters, Synchro Monsters, Spells, and/or Traps may be used. If you want to make 10 spells...go or it. ;)

3. As per the rules on making a contest in this forum, I will permit people to reserve an entry. However, if you reserve an entry and do not post a submission by the deadline I will not permit you to take part in any future contests that I hold on this forum. Naturally, if something out of your control comes up you can PM me and I will allow you to bow out of the competion, but it had better be a good reason.

4. There is no limit to the number of particpants this contest can have so you don't have to worry about being one of the 1st 10 or anything like that. There, however, must be at least 4 participants to make submissions before I will judge. Any less and I will just give those who took the time to make a submission 2 Reps as a consolation prize for participating and call the whole thing a failure.

5. Along with the submission you must provide the proper image credits and list which anime you selected for each card(in case they're not all from the same anime). Submissions that fail to do this will not be considered. The reason for this will be come clearer in a momment.

6. This contest has a twist. Once a submission has been made that credits a specific anime, that anime will be added to the list at the end of this thread and no further submissions with material from that anime will be accepted. That means, for example, if the 1st person to post a submission in this thread chooses Naruto...then those will be the only Naruto cards in the contest. You cannot reserve an anime title. It's 1st come, 1st serve. I will make no distinctions between series, OVA, and Movie. There is one "Ghost in The Shell." Exceptions to this might occur if a second series exists(which has major differences). Just watch the list to see what is and is not acceptable.

7. Minor editing of existing submissions(OCG Corrections and such) will be permitted since I will not judge this contest until it is over.

8.As previoulsy stated, I will not be judging this contest before it concludes so please do not bother posting or PMing me with things like,"How did I do?" because I will not answer you. If I make a general comment about your submission like,"Good Job" then it's just a general comment and has nothing to do with any part of the judgement process.

1st Place = 300 Points & 3 Reps.

2nd Place = 200 Points & 2 Reps.

3rd Place = 100 Points & 1 Rep.

 

 

[spoiler=End Date] This contest ends on Saturday, May 31st at Midnight(EST). There will be no 1 person exceptions to this as it is not fair to the other participants.

 

[spoiler=Judgement]

20% = OCG

20% = Originality

10% = Practicality

20% = Balance

20% = Artwork

10% = Theme/Personal Preference

 

OCG: This includes both Official Card Grammar and basic Grammar/Spelling.

Originality: This strongly suggests that cards be original in their ideas so don't just use an existing card and change 3-4 words.

Practicality: While originality is important, don't make a card so unique that it's a paragraph of mess that would cause most people to have a stroke as opposed to actually using it.

Balance: Don't make your card horrifically overpowered or underpowered.

Artwork: Don't make/select a piece of art that looks like it was used as the lining of a cat box.

Theme/Personal Preference: Make certain that the title/artwork/effect of each card works together and makes sense when applied to the subject matter of the anime you have chosen. If it all gels together into one solid card then it will get my personal preference.

Nobody is perfect so I reserve the right to make adjustments/corrections to this contest as I see fit. if I make such a change there will be a post in this thread stating such so that nobody is caught off guard and I will edit this post to reflect those changes. This is pretty much the "Covering my own kiester" clause.

paintman : No either or statements. You select which card does not count for judgement. Other than that, Welcome to the contest. Hellsing will be added to the list.

aznwhitey: So long as the other rules are followed, I don't care if you made them today or last Christmas. ;)

Clarification: That particular rule was put in place to go with the forum's own rules on artistic credits. Since this is an anime contest and a large portion of the artwork comes directly from the shows, I will permit the standard disclaimer that is acceptable on this forum to be used. I appologize for any confusion/problems this may have caused to previous submissions but you have until the deadline to make any adjustments to your submission that you wish to make.

 

BTW, there are only 2 days left on this contest. I would like to see more submissions please. ;)

1. Not to be mean, but I'm almost willing to bet I've forgotten more anime than you've seen. Don't make assumptions.

2. If you read the rules, there is no reserving. A title is marked off of the list once the submission is correctly completed.

3. So long as you follow the rules of this contest and make the deadline you are more than welcome to participate. Good luck. :D

 

P.S. Not only do I know what Deathnote is, I had seen all of it before it aired on Cartoon Network. ;)
