Suggestion

Recommended Posts

After hearing about several spam cases which have occured during the last days, the following idea just came into my mind. It may not have a great influence on anything, but I thought that mentionning it wouldn't hurt anyone.

What about opening a vent central somewhere in the general section, in which people can spam, whine, rant or anything they feel like which would not be appropriate in any other thread? At least the spammers and similar people would have a place where they could unleash their stupidity and they wouldn't need to do it in the other threads.

I planned to do something of that kind anyway, but I wanted to check if it's okay first.

EDIT: IF something like this WOULD be opened, it would be most useful if there would not be a post count in that thread because, like some people already mentionned here, it would lead to an inflation of posts and stars. Also, it should not be a separation which isolates the spammers and other people of that type from the regular members, but merely a place where people can unleash their burden, spammy mood or whatever.

Like JesusofChaos pointed out, it's true that a high amount of spammers consists of new members who aren't even aware of the fact that they're spamming and who would ignore this area anyway. Well sorry about that, but this is not my problem, since I'm not a staff member. We can't do anything about that, except for IP bans, but again, some very persistent spammers would probably find a way around the ban.

When I came up with this, I particularly thought about stories of initially trustworthy members (I won't mention any names) who suddenly, for reasons which are unknown to me, decided to start a spamming marathon. Maybe it was out of sheer boredom or out of rage - I don't know, but at least a thread like this would keep people from unleashing their frustration in inappropriate sections.

#1) To have a place for posters to spam is a waste of bandwidth and memory for the site.

#2) IF it were to happen, they OBVIOUSLY would not get post count there, or in a matter of hours EVERYONE would be a 5 star member.

#3) What NEEDS to happen is those who have mass-spammed this site, or created multiple accounts, ban the IP addresses. You get rid of enough of them, they'll stop coming back.

All in all, no support here. It'd be a waste of time and space and members would continue to spam the remainder of the site whether we had a spam section or not.

I figured that out, thanks, but I only wanted to mention the point once. Of course there would be no post count in that section because, as you pointed out reasonably, this would lead to an inflation.

Sorry for mentionning this, it was only a "Schnappsidee" after all (don't know how to call that in English).

It would be a great idea Raven. i support your idea for a place for just spamming, and i thought it wouldhave already taken place, but it hasn't. It's great, Because, it keeps those spammers spereate from us, cause we actaully post decent replies, they, however , just waste a away, the bandwidth provided, by YCM. It'ssoo unfair that they don't punshed, but yet we do.. What's up with that?

I strictly object the spam section idea.

-It will waste collosal space

-Spammers can freely spam their life away in any & every thread

-We all hate spammers, especially porn spammers

(I now sacrifice 3 Fiends in order to summon this,Raviel, the Lord of Phantasms!Go,my mighty fiend, send the porn spammers to Hell with Shimmering Slash!)

Lord whye did you read all the posts as a whole?

Also, as I said before, I decided to make some changements about that, since I know that this idea is difficult to be put into practice.

This means one other thing, namely that you don't read everything. Also, I don't think it should be locked because at least the idea has been mentionned somewhere and even though you may not agree with it, it has at least been said.

Calm down people, I didn't even say that you should agree or that it should be put into practice. I only wanted to mention it as a possible option.
