ey the birbs are here @Abbie @Rayfield Lumina

ok...its mass normals ala Yosenju although this time its actual full-fledge tribute summon theme. the normal summon cycle gimmick is already awesome but furthermore we have triple summon and..... Unknown Wind which implying Kaiju-esque summon but able to bypass mask of restrict somehow? which is crazy since i think this could be beginning of new kind of tribute summon that dont necessarily tribute cards

  • Dokutah changed the title to [BODE] Flundereeze from Burst of Destiny

Ohhhh looks at these cute birds! I love them. Ok wow, Tribute Summon based, no Special Summoning? What is this, Rush Duels? Unknown Wind looks bloody scary, no OPT for that first effect? Gonna make people mad since Tribute based protection is rare. Anyone understand the name? I don't know what that would be referencing.

EDIT:

Earthbound freaking Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca searchable as well, break their hand for 3 but now with modern consistency

Pot of Greed for birds? You mean this card? Kind of seems like a powerful card for Winged Beast, free 2 cards for only a little bit of HP, definitely gonna use this in my Winged Beast decks https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Wing_Requital

OMG! This is looking so guuud, @Dokutah Jolly! Look at all that glorious birb fluffness!

Quick Effect to change SS'd opponent mobs to face-down, or downright negate their effects while in Attack Position. TRIPLE freaking generic Normal Summon, O_o''. Ohohoho, and look at the effect of Flundereeze and the Unknown Wind, using opponent's monsters to Tribute Summon your own, that's how it is done, Soul Exchange! I also loved the second effect, flexible and once per turn, sweet. Flundereeze and the Scary Sea is also hella scary, you get that one off in good timing and your opponent is bound to get completely screwed, Normal Summoning their Ashes and Ghost Bells in face-down Def position only to survive xD. Meee excited.

I can't tell you how many times I read the monster's names and said "Flunderex" instead of Flundereeze x

On another note, Raiza the Mega Monarch would be an interesting card to go with these guys.

Check out my monarch x Flundereeze Casual cards? Mass normal summoning=monarchs in my eyes.

Yosenjus were probably the groundwork used to create these birds. Usually you stop the whole play when you get to stop a Yosenju Normal Summon, but these birds have ways around disruption and their recovery is ridiculous. They also mix well with the Raiza bit from the Monarchs.

Given the peculiar method of recycling, I wouldn't be surprised to find out "Terror of the Underroot" was made as a countermeasure. Though people are also very likely to instead go "Pot of Acquisitiveness" depending on how the rest of the meta shapes up. Strich from these new birds seem to be a sort of countermeasure, and it is fine, but the deck also sounds like it'd lend itself to be the first to make "Tribute Burial" effective.

Also Stormforth might work better in these guys than Monarchs considering how their Summons are more inherently quick. No need for weird stuff like Chain Summoning, Arrivalrival, Dark Advance, or Supermagic Sword of Raptinus.

So I've tried these bad birds out on EdoPro, and all in all they are incredibly solid, with just a few niggles. I personally feel that they need just one more Level 1 to have better pop-off potential; preferably a card that can mill so Strich and Toccan can be an even stronger combo.

I've also found that Feather Requital isn't super incredible, purely because they have this endless combo theme, making it hard to interupt unless you end on a Snowl. Pots of Extravagance/Prosperity are very good for the deck since they have no need for an extra, but they conflct with Requital and Unknown Wind. Not a big dealbreaker, but not super fantastic either.

Two fun tech cards I've found is Tri-Brigade Fraktall and Harpie Dancer. The former can load a Level 1 you're missing from the deck into the GY, but that's only a really useful move on the occasion you have any combination of Robina, Strich, and Toccan in your hand. It does at least provide a much more useful target for Strich, and it does keep the combo moving. Dancer, meanwhile, is interesting as while it absolutely makes the 1s whiff cause they banish themselves, I've found it absolutely hilarious working in tandem with Empren. Empren doesn't banish itself, and it also isn't a hard OPT either. Meaning if you have an extra tribute out, you can NS Dancer off of Empren to bounce it, then re-NS it for a second search.

Jack-in-the-Hand is indeed incredibly useful for the deck, though I tried Where Arf Thou?, and it was rarely useful because of how Flundereeze keep chaining NSs. Maybe if you had 3 and ended on Snowl, but like, if you have 3, you don't need Arf. I have not tried 141 because it wouldn't help the deck. I did not try Tribute Burial either.

Tribute summons I've got is 1 copy of Snowl and Empren, as well as 1 of Wiraqocha Rasca, Raiza the Mega Monarch, Apex Avian, and Simorgh, Lord of the Storm. Further testing is required.

In all, solid archetype, but I feel it needs 1 more Level 1 to really pop off.
