PROLOGUE

Carlson looked down at his duel disk, the blue numbers confidently blinking as he played the card that would win him the duel.

Carlson: It's all over, Rex.

Rex was a duelist who strongly focused on dinosaur monsters. He currently had Super Conductor Tyranno and Uraby on the field, both in attack position. No magic or trap cards were present to help him against the monster that was about to be summoned. Strangely, there was no drop of sweat on Tex's forehead.

Rex: You just don't get it, do you Carlson? My Super Conductor Tyranno has 3300 attack! There are only a handfull of monsters that can retaliate against that!

Carlson: It just so happens that this is one of them. I activate the ritual spell card, Pieces of Eight!

Rex let out a smirk.

Rex: What is this gonna be? Another one of your pirate creeps?

Carlson ignored this, at continued with his turn.

Carlson: I tribute Mutinied Captain Craag, and Zombie Parrot from my hand to ritual summon... Undead Pirate Lord-Unkrokk!

A terrifying, skeletal pirate arose from the concrete in the road that they were standing in. It let out a vicous roar that made Rex stagger, before realising that he still had the advantage.

Rex: Are you blind Carlson? That monster has only 2800 attack, no match for my Tyranno!

Carlson: Take another look...

At that instant, seven skeletons arose from Carlson's graveyard, and formed a circle around Unkrokk. They appeared strangely familiar to Rex.

Rex: Hey I destroyed them turns ago!

Carlson: Yes, but Unkrokk's effect means that I can unite him with each Undead Pirate monster in my graveyard, increasing his attack by 300 points for each monster.

Rex: But No! That means... 4900 attack points!

Each skeletal monster that was revived from the graveyard slowly joined themselves to Unkrokk in a fury of interlocking bones. Soon, the unity was complete, and the true Undead Pirate King was revived - a ten foot high legendary beast of destruction. Rex could only let out a yelp as Carlson shouted:

Carlson: Now, obliterate his final 1600 life points!

A thick cloud of dust appeared from the sky, and the cries of lost souls erupted in a chorus of dark delight. The new pirate cards were truly unstoppable.

CHAPTER 1

Announcer: Announcement for all passengers going to Duelist Kingdom. Please be ready to depart.

Carlson was closely studying the Super Conductor Tyranno that he had earned from his latest victim. It had no place in his deck, but he added it to his briefcase, in case he had a sudden change of heart. He also looked at the other cards that sat along side it: Dark Necrofear, Tri-Horned Dragon, Silent Magician Lv8 - all of which were prizes that he had won from unlucky duelists that had the pleasure of facing him.

Then, a quick glance left and right made sure that he was not being watched. Carlson slowly withdrew a single card from his pocket. A card created by his father. For Carlson. It meant so much to him, that he daren't use it in a duel, in case he lost it. He glanced at the name for what felt like the millionth time. Undead Hunter Pirate - Dregrokk. It could wipe out a God card with the right combination, but after almost losing it, he feared that his father's ghost would want him to take care of it.

In a sudden burst of light, Carlson found himself in a classroom. Children were cheering and gathering around a small table, at which two older boys were playing a card game. None of the kids noticed him, as if he was only a spirit. Carlson noticed one of the boys immediately, and was taken aback as he finally noticed where he was. A small boy of pale skin and jet black hair, identical to Carlson's, was playing, and obviously winning- 4000 LP to 750 LP. The other boy was mildly obese, with cheeks that looked like they were filled with chocolate. The young Carlson had Undead Hunter Pirate - Dregrokk face-up on the field with 4800 attack points, and the other boy only had one face-down card in his spell and trap card zone.

Young Carlson : And now, I will win with the card that my father gave me! Dregrokk, attack!

Boy: Not so fast! I activate Magical Cylinder!

What was once a smile of victory evaporated into thin air, and the young boy burst into tears.

Boy: Ha! I beat the champion! That wasn't so hard, was it, my insects?

As the boy continued to gloat and work up the crowd, the young Carlson picked up his cards and ran as fast as his skinny legs would carry him. When the chubby boy had finally noticed, he began to shout:

Boy: Hey! That cheater is getting away with my card! You liar! That Dredrokk card is mine!

As fast as it had happened at first, Carlson returned to the present time, once again tormented by the ongoing nightmare, and he knew that it would not end until he dueled with the Hunter Pirate again.

CHAPTER 2

As 800 duelists departed from the boat. Carlson tried to avoisd starting any duels. Instead, he avoided making contact with anybody, and went in pursuit of a quiet opening where he could think. After walking straight for 20 minutes, Carlson heard voices coming from a cave only 20 metres from him. Being the curious man that he was, he progressed closer to the cave.

Stranger: So you thought that you could fake your own death to avoid us...

This speech made Carlson more alert. It was clear that this was not light-hearted banter. Nervously, Carlson popped his head around the corner of the lip of the cave, making sure not to be seen. On the floor lay a man, his face covered in cuts and bruises, with his hands tied behind his back. Four other men in black robes stood, towering over the tortured man, kicking him repeatedly, and whispering threats into his ears. Unable to resist himself, Carlson ran into the opening of the cave, and only then did he notice the man lying on the floor.

Carlson: Father!

All four of the robed man turned, and Carlson was suprised to see that they were all wearing duel disks.

Carlson: Keep away from my father!

Stranger: I'm afraid that he has a secret untold, and we must retrieve his knowledge.

Carlson: I don't know what's going on, but I could easily take you all on. Now are you going to duel me or not?

Carlson looked down at the decrepid body of his father, confused and angry.

Stranger: Very Well! The rest of you, tie up the prisoner. This shouldn't take long. Let's duel!

The Duel Disks clicked and spun and whirred, as both duelists inserted decks into them.

Stranger: You can start!

Carlson drew five cards to form his starting hand, and then drew another during his draw phase. It was a strong set of cards, made up mainly of monsters.

Carlson: I summon Pirate Crew, and it's effect maens that I can add one Undead Pirate Monster from my deck to my hand. I choose Undead Pirate Lord - Unkrokk!

As Carlson shuffled through his deck, he felt pity and anger at his father. Why had he not told him that he had been alive all of these years?

Carlson: I now activate my Pieces of Eight ritual spell card, allowing me to summon Unkrokk to the field if I tribute monsters whose levels add up to nine. I tribute Pirate Crew, Undead Monkey and Zombie Parrot!

The skeletal beast once again arose from the mud, and the three skeletal monsters that he had just tributed returned to the field and combined their strength with that of Unkrokk.

Carlson: Unkrokk's effect lets me rev...

Stranger: I have researched every card that your father has made. I know it's effect.

Annoyed by his opponent's interuption, Carlson continued.

Carlson: So my Pirate has 3700 attack. I set two cards face-down in my spell and trap zone, and end my turn.

Stranger: Finally. I draw a card.I play one face-down spell or trap card, and activate Mystical Space Typhoon. This lets me destroy the face-down card I just played.

Carlson wa very confused about why he was destroying his own cards, but continued to watch.

Stranger: The card I just destroyed was Ojamagic, which lets me add one of each Ojama Black, Green, and Yellow to my hand.

Carlson: You went througfh that just to get those three brats. What a waste...

Stranger: Let me finish. I now activate Disguise Storm, which lets the name of all monsters in my hand become the name of any other monster in my hand until the end of this turn. I choose Ojama Green. I summon Ojama Green to my side of the field.

Carlson was definately confused by this spectacle. Ojama green had 0 attack points, so destroying it with Unkrokk would reduce the robed man's life points to 300. What was he thinking.

Stranger: I now activate Reproduction Virus, which lets me special summon any monster with the same name as one monster on my side of the field. I choose Ojama Green again.

Now I can special summon the other two Ojama's I drew earlier, and also my Toon Alligator.

Carlson: OK, now I am confused, what are you doing?

Stranger: You will soon see. I activate Polymerization, to fuse my three Ojamas into Ojama king!

At this moment, an obese creature in a swimming costume appeared. It was too large to fit into the cave standing, so it crouched in an uncomfortable position.

Stranger: Three of your monster zones are now completely unusable!

Carlson: Another monster with 0 attack! Why are you putting them in attack position?

Stranger: I now place three cards face down in my spell and trap card zone, and end my turn.

Carlson was in a tough position. He could attack, but he knew that the stranger had a suprise up his sleeve. On the other hand, if he didn't attack, that may be just what the robed man wanted. Either way, this stranger was revealing no secrets about his strategy.

Carlson: Draw!

Looking nervously at his cards, Carlson's mind was racing. He looked down at his father and asked himself 'what would Dad do?'. After finnaly making a decision, he declared:

Carlson: Unkrokk, atttack Ojama King!

Stranger: Not so fast.

He quickly flipped up one of his face-down cards and said:

Stranger: I activate Ancient Telescope! This lets me look at the top 5 cards of my deck, and rearrange them in any order that I choose.

The robed man drew the cards, smiled, and put them back on top of the deck in the same order.

Carlson: Why didn't you change them?

Stranger: They're already perfect

Carlson: Can I continue?

Stranger: Not quite. I activate The Enchanting Fitting Room spell card. This lets me draw three cards and special summon any level 3 or lower monster cards!

Carlson: What!

Stranger: I can special summon Ojama Green, Ojama Yellow and Ojama Black! It's funny how I knew that those three cards were on the top of my deck, isn't it?

Carlson: This is a waste of time. Can I just finish my turn?

Stranger: Go ahead.

Carlson: Attack Ojama King!

The skeletal Lord advanced slowly, before making a sudden lunge. However, Carlson gasped when he saw that the other monsters had cushioned the blow from Ojama King.

Stranger: I forgot to tell you that I had one more face-down spell. United We Stand! This increases the attack of my Ojama King by 800 points for each monster on my side of the field. I believe that is 4000ATK!

Carlson: But that means...

Stranger: Bye, bye Unkrokk! And you lose 300 Life Points.

Carlson was left with an open jaw as he saw his beloved Pirate Lord evaporate.
