I started playing in DM era and into GX but quit playing right after Destiny Hero's were introduced and just recently got back into Yu-Gi-Oh due to my daughter who just turned 8. The backstory: I saw a custom card reviewer online and saw them say that Destiny Board Retrains would not work in modern Yu-Gi-Oh. So I wanted to make a new version that would work at least in a casual way knowing that 5 turns take too long in Yu-Gi-Oh competitively, but am not looking for them to be competitive, but be fun and varied in their use if not splash-able as an engine. If there are 4 "Spirit Message" with different names on the field or attached to this card, you win the duel. Once per turn during your opponent’s standby phase: Attach 1 "Spirit Message" card from your hand, deck, or graveyard in order "I', "N", "A", "L" to this card. When this card or any "Destiny Board" you control leaves the field shuffle all "Destiny Board" and "Spirit Message” cards into their owner’s deck. If this card would be placed in a monster zone you may place it in your Extra Monster Zone instead. This card is treated as an Effect Monster named Dark Necrofear (Fiend/Dark/Level 8/ATK 2800/DEF 2200) while on the field it is still treated as “Destiny Board” while in a Monster Zone with the effect: “Once per turn (As a quick effect) you can detach one material from this card and gain control of one monster your opponent controls as long as this card has at least one material attached. If this card would be destroyed detach one material instead this effect is not optional. “ Message of Fear “R” Normal Spell This card is treated as Spirit Message “I”. This card can only be place on the field by the effect of “Destiny Board”. This card and “Destiny Board are unaffected by monsters your opponent controls. You may send this card from your hand to the bottom of its owner’s deck to draw 1 card from your deck. You can only activate this ability once per turn. As a quick effect you may send this card from the field to the bottom of your deck to negate the summoning or effect of one monster your opponent controls and send that monster to your opponent’s graveyard. If this card is placed in a Monster Zone it is treated as an Effect Monster (Fiend/Dark/Level 1/ATK 500/DEF 500) that is unaffected by monster your opponent controls. Message of Fear “E” Normal Spell This card is treated as Spirit Message “N”. This card can only be place on the field by the effect of “Destiny Board”. This card and “Destiny Board” are unaffected by spells your opponent controls. You may send this card from your hand to the bottom of its owner’s deck to draw 1 card from your deck. You can only activate this ability once per turn. As a Quick Effect you may send this card from the field to the bottom of your deck to negate a spell your opponent controls and send that spell to your opponent’s graveyard. If this card is placed in a Monster Zone it is treated as an Effect Monster (Fiend/Dark/Level 2/ATK 1000/DEF 1000) that is unaffected by spells your opponent controls. Message of Fear “A” Normal Spell This card is treated as Spirit Message “A”. This card can only be place on the field by the effect of “Destiny Board”. This card and “Destiny Board” are unaffected by traps your opponent controls. You may send this card from your hand to the bottom of its owner’s deck to draw 1 card from your deck. You can only activate this ability once per turn. As a Quick Effect you may send this card from the field to the bottom of your deck to negate a trap your opponent controls and send that trap to your opponent’s graveyard. If this card is placed in a Monster Zone it is treated as an Effect Monster (Fiend/Dark/Level 3/ATK 1500/DEF 1500) that is unaffected by Traps your opponent controls. Message of Fear “D” Normal Spell This card is treated as Spirit Message “L”. This card can only be place on the field by the effect of “Destiny Board”. This card and “Destiny Board” is unaffected by cards your opponent controls. You may send this card from your hand to the bottom of its owner’s deck to draw 1 card from your deck. You can only activate this ability once per turn. You may send this card from the field to the bottom of your deck to negate a card your opponent controls and send that card to your opponent’s graveyard. If this card is placed in a Monster Zone it is treated as an Effect Monster (Fiend/Dark/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 2000) that is unaffected by cards your opponent controls. Spirit Pointer Guide Quick Play Spell Send any number of “Spirit Message” cards from your hand to the bottom of your deck: add any number of Monster, Spell, or Trap cards that list “Destiny Board”, “Spirit Message”, or Dark Necrofear to your hand up to the number of “Spirit Message” cards you placed on the bottom of your deck by this effect. Shuffle your deck. If you sent 3 or more “Spirit Message” cards to your deck as a result of this effect, you may place 1 card added to your hand by Spirit Pointer Guide on the field. This counts as being placed by “Destiny Board”. You can only activate 1 Spirit Pointer Guide per turn. Dread Fiend Sanctuary Field Spell This card is treated as “Dark Sanctuary”. If a “Spirit Message” card would be place on your field with the effect of “Destiny Board”, you can Special Summon it as a Normal Monster (Fiend/Dark/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF0) instead, as long as that card is not treated as an Effect Monster while on the field, if it would be sent to the graveyard place it on the bottom of its owners deck instead. “Spirit Message” cards cannot be destroyed by battle as long as this card is face up on the field. If an opponent would activate a Spell, Trap, Monster Effect or declare an attack send the top card of your Library to the Graveyard if it shares a type with that card negate the Effect or Battle and send it to the Graveyard. You path is obviously retrain while my personal preferance is the latter. For the most part, there's nothing wrong with retrain of course (heck my recent creation is a retrain lol, oh you might search it on realistic card if you interested). though to certain people a retrain as loaded as these might be trying too hard (well my retrain is kinda loaded to to be fair). As far as i recall Destiny Board/Dark Necrofear actually already has amazing irl support (you probably already know this, but just a bit of heads up in case maybe in your design research you missed them) sure those support still not cover all the weakness of the strategy but thats when we usually come in This is a small set which im usually able to review this in one go, but im currently have urgent irl things by the time im writing this so for this reply im reviewing the sanctuary first Dread Sanctuary is weird, i has things that make it seems better than the original Sanctuary but also lack of things sanctuary is really good at. OG sanctuary done an amazing job of convert messages into heavily protected field pieces so you can put more things on the board to further protect Za Board (pun intended). In case of Dread Sanc however, the piece is not converted to have the invincibility. Sure it has invincibility from the new version of messages but this card backfire them by converting it to normal monster thus losing its effect. Its has recycling effect should Za Board is blow-up but only recycle the ones you place as spell (which is the vurnerable ones and drag your entire message to gy). I has negation but its effectiveness is random and might further ruin your strategy should you send a message to GY (which definitely happen since the most ideal Destiny Board builds dont run all 3 copy of each message) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dread Fiend Sanctuary is supposed to: Let you place the "Spirit Message" cards in either the S&T or Monster zones like the original both old and retrain. Give blanket battle protection to all "Spirit Message" cards while it's face up on the field. With "as long as that card is not treated as an Effect Monster while on the field" is where I struggled I flipped between making the cards Gemini Creature where the could normal summon themselves to gain their Effect Monster abilities, that seemed excessive, but this was designed that if it can be summoned as an Effect Monster it's an effect Monster instead of a Normal Monster. I would appreciate if someone could clarify how to accomplish that with modern wording and clean up the effects. I want it to have a control effect like Fiend Sanctuary with the "Spirit Message" having battle protection and no longer allowing attack bypassing it didn't really seeming like a 50/50 battle protection would be beneficial so I swapped it out for a 33% total negate. Bandit's Final Gambit also allows you to recover "Spirit Message" cards from the GY. I was going to make additional support cards one would recover a Board or Spirit. I was going to make a XYZ Dark Necrofear And the reason I chose DreaD was because I have 2 Pendulum monsters coming that act as Pendulum Spells for Board Support giving the player the ability to Board Dread in a Pendulum option. So i recommended for you to actually simplified it especially given you pump the retrains to have such bloated effects, (i mean even konami going dictionary with Endymion don't really justified such eye-tiring length effects to be replicated unless its really necessary) that being said, some of your idea actually already implemented on irl support and some have interesting route to follow but in general these is what we need to do: -Cards that search and protect dark sanctuary and destiny board -synergize with dark necrofear support for flavor and continuing the good irl support So instead the retrain of the spell/trap we actually need to make new monster to either complete the dark spirit trio for Dark/Curse Necrofear Summon condition while also make Xyz Material for your Xyz idea. Now luckily all the dark spirit are already using the ever-popular LV3 which mean it got burning abyss and tour guide synergy though of course we need one that take and active role, like have self combo of both self summon and summon other fiends Now, the Xyz of your dream can actually abuse za board wording, by attaching and gaining Za board effect while probably having a protection on her own. And for the LV synergy we have this is obviously has to be a Rank 3 or maybe rank 8 with alternate summon if you really want it to have have the necrofear lore. I dont think the message need those negation + draw + invincibility retrain combo, even though we still need the negation part. We can move it to other cards like the xyz or the new monster for example That being said not all of your cards is the original post needs overhaul, im actually really like Spirit guide Pointer though my only problem with it is the abilty to also search spirit message and Dark Spirit Mastery at the same time pretty much blows your draw ability to dangerous level Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
