Should Yu-Gi-Oh! adopt a "secret lair" product?

Recommended Posts

Introducing Magic's best worst-kept secret. The Secret Lair Drop Series contains specially curated cards that feature some of the most exciting artists around. But act fast-each drop is available for a very limited amount of time.

Secret Lair made WOTWC tons of money and got all kinds of neat alternative artwork cards.

Just imagined your favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! card that got a really sweet alternative artwork drop.

Discuss the potential of this concept.

Wait, do all the cards in the set have alt. arts or is it just select cards?  The explanation isn't clear.

Putting out more alt. arts sounds like it would be generally good sense.  Gives artificial value to cards/sets that are mostly reprints.

However, it's kinda hard to judge how much value this would raise and there may be other factors that might not make it worthwhile.  For one thing, depending on the cards printed, this kind of gimmick might only appeal to a specific part of the ygo fanbase - the collectors.  If they don't do it right, it'd be a product that just doesn't sell well.
