You can use each effect among the (1) and (2) effects with this card’s name only once per turn.
(1) You can target 1 “Plunder Patroll” monster in your GY, except “Ravenwing, the Plunder Patroll Pilot”; you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except “Plunder Patroll” monsters, also Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, add that target to your hand.
(2) If this card is sent from the hand or Monster Zone to the GY: You can target 1 “Plunder Patroll” Monster Card in your Spell & Trap Zone; Special Summon it in Defense Position.

Ah, Plunder Patroll.  I really like the goblin pirate theming and I would go so far as to say it is up there as one of the strongest archetypes to play pure.

This particular card is just soooooooooo good based on that first effect alone.  Being able to put names back into your hand while putting a body on the field is just what the deck needs.  Without things set up correctly, the deck bleeds advantage; this mitigates that while also keeping your effects live.

Given that the deck is pretty xenophobic, almost as important as the second effect is the name itself.  Just having another name helps the deck a ton.

The (2) effect is icing on the cake.  It's good, and it combos well with Redbeard (which kinda felt underwhelming up to this point), but since it cannot re-summon Blackbeard, it's not as powerful as it could be.  It's just an excellent support card overall.
