Konami encourages unhealthy behavior

Recommended Posts

Konami encourages unhealthy behavior of the yu-gi-oh! players which will ultimately will cause every one to abandon the game entirely.

Lots of konami policies/ideas/etc. are heading Yu-Gi-Oh into a bad direction, the entry level to just get in the game is staggering to say the least (but yugioh is like 20 years old so kinda cut them a break)

All the content one has to learn and what you have to purchase to actually discourages new blood coming in and eventually the veteran players will hang their coats so with that leads to a dwindling player base and i am want to let yugioh since it was/somewhat still a good chunk of my life (Commander format is taking a larger portion here lately)

Now the issue of behavior is not essentially THAT where konami can punish those who cross that line

It's the overall attitude/ego/personality quirks that comes from the game itself because what konami playstyle-wise supports.

What do I mean? Konami has a clear goal and where there they are steering this game and it's basically opening i have an otk (or incredible board state that still says i more or less win)

Either the opponent has enough answers/hand traps/etc to get over it or the take the loss but that opponent has to sit for 5 - 10 minutes waiting on the otk player to finish up their opening turn.

This discourages new and old players alike.

Players see it coming and they scoop up quickly (which is good because less your opponent see of your deck the better right)

This sort of play style of (favoring mostly aggro builds) is konami's bread and butter as konami had put to stop to alternative win condition such as final count down, exodia, destiny board and etc.

The way the game is heading will lead to more toxic behavior (konami can not really fix it nor hard to actually stop it) of the player.

Hope that helps and (I was busy and didn't get around to elaborating)

There no card to show either. So not really a proper post for it

But yeah we need context first

Huh. I didn't notice before, but it looks like the general ygo discussion subsection got rolled into the tcg/ocg card discussion section...

Weeell I guess I could point to the "end of match" procedures of going into time...  That "end your phase" bit is something other card games have tested and promptly kicked out by fanbase backlash, yet somehow in Yugioh it is still here after, what? a year or two? Then again, Yugioh has 15 minutes of combos in some of their plays so it isn't exactly like the others...
Still...

I'll be awaiting for the OP update though.

Unhealthy behavior? That's been a problem in some form in this game for years. It's most of the reason why I left it for so many years. Along with the general burn-out of everything.

Konami's card design is an issue here. It pretty much always has been in some form with cards that shouldn't have seen the light of day in said form in the first place. There's also the players that accept it. I get evolution of the game and that, but there should be a default of what's acceptable card design as far as balance goes. The game may have changed over the years but it's still the same old whoever can draw enough cards to win first wins in most cases. Also keep in mind, some decks can play around or through hand traps or negates either through the sheer power of the deck or by baiting them out and doing their combos anyway.
