ABC-Dragon Buster is a Contact Fusion that can "use" its materials from both field and GY, so this does have precedent.
In short, it's a FIRE beater that progressively gets bigger and with protection against destruction reminiscent of the Fusion Thunder Dragons. The burn is more of icing on cake. It can be a problem if the opponent happens to not run non-destructive removal to deal with, but in the competitive scene most decks do so I don't see this breaking anything. If it requires the materials on board then it's rather difficult to access for what it's worth, but if you enable to use it materials from the GY like ABC then it could be an amusing toy to mess with in mill-themed decks that could effortlessly get the 2 monsters in the GY. The trade-off being that both Inferno and Spirit of Flames are subpar in the current metas, but that can change anytime depending on what Koomy releases, since Spirit of Flames can be a welcomed FIRE-Attributed extender, akin to how some Mermail/Atlantean builds run Aqua Spirit every now and then.

By the way, "devil" is a word avoided by TCG for censorship reasons, so from a realistic standpoint you would have to go for another name. "Fiend" is usually the word they use as replacement.

I meant for the redirection of destruction, apologies for the vague wording.

I tend to ignore such limitations for my own cards, though I do indeed recognize it would likely be censored as such. As stated in the post, it is effectively a Japanese name.

All you'd have to do is add the words "your field or" as far as I can see (i.e., "If this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish 1 FIRE Pyro monster from your field or GY instead."). There's probably some card out there that can already protect itself that way anyway.

  • Arcadia warlic changed the title to Iblis the Inferno Devil [Casual Single]

Yeah, should be a non-controversial change even if it doesn't have any precedent. I would say the shared protection of the first-generation Six Sams are a solid example to follow.
Anyway, to be clear requiring both Inferno and Spirit of Flames on board to Summon is too steep to have any impact competitively, IMO, and even at a casual level because you would need the 2 different monsters at hand and at least 3 FIREs in the GY to banish, IIRC FIRE/Pyros are still unsearchable by practical means (no ROTA, no King of Feral Imps, etc.) and running multiple copies of them is asking for dead draws.
