Decided I wanted to go back to basics and make a fairly self-contained archetype but focus on a very specific gimmick: Changing how the LP system works. Instead of having a starting 8000 that you want to widdle down, the archetype (essentially) changes the game by making a system of 8 "hits". All* battle damage becomes 1000, so to knock out 8k LP, a player needs to be attacked 8 times. I also wanted the archetype to run with this a bit more, so all the monsters have effects where they can pay 1000 LP for a decently powerful effect. You have to keep asking yourself: is this effect worth 1/8 of my life? Of course, the archetype also has ways to give you back LP in multiples of 1000, so hopefully they don't die to their own effects. I decided to base the archetype on the flavor/jobs of Final Fantasy. However, I haven't played too many of the games, so I ended up mixing in a few of the class tropes from DnD. This archetype already has a lot of members, but I don't feel it has enough solid ways of winning yet, so I plan to continue adding cards to it both to add to its strength but also to reflect further tropes, moves, special abilities and other things. I will add other additions to follow-up posts rather than editing this post to prevent it from becoming excessively long. Without further ado, onto the cards! 8-Bit Overworld Field Spell When this card is activated: You can gain 2000 LP. If you would take less than 1000 damage, you take no damage. "8-Bit" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle. If you pay exactly 1000 LP: You can place 1 Counter on this card. If an "8-Bit" card is targeted by your opponent's card effect: You can remove 1 Counter from this card; negate that effect. When this card leaves the field: Take 2000 damage. 8-Bit Dungeon Field Spell When this card is activated: Gain 1000 LP. All monsters your opponent controls gain 300 ATK/DEF. The original ATK/DEF of "8-Bit" monsters you control become 2000. If an "8-Bit" monster you control battles, your opponent's cards and effects cannot be activated until the end of the Damage Step. If you pay exactly 1000 LP: All "8-Bit" monsters you control gain 500 ATK/DEF until the End Phase of the next turn. When this card leaves the field: You can activate 1 "8-Bit Overworld" from your hand, Deck, or GY, then take 1000 damage. 8-Bit Shrine Field Spell When this card is activated: Gain 1000 LP. Monsters cannot declare an attack. "8-Bit" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by card effects. You do not have to pay LP to activate the effects of "8-Bit" cards. When this card leaves the field: You can activate 1 "8-Bit Overworld" from your hand, Deck, or GY, then take 1000 damage. ~~~ 8-Bit Startup Normal Spell Pay 1000 LP; add 1 "8-Bit" card from your Deck to your hand. If you control a Field Spell when this effect resolves, you can activate 1 "8-Bit" Field Spell from your Deck or GY. 8-Bit Inn Continuous Trap Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP and target 1 "8-Bit" monster in your GY; Special Summon it. During the End Phase: You can send this face-up card to the GY; Special Summon any number of "8-Bit" monsters in your GY that were destroyed this turn. You can only control 1 "8-Bit Inn". ~~~ 8-Bit Warrior EARTH **** Warrior/Effect If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP; until the End Phase, if this card battles a monster, this card's original ATK becomes the ATK of the monster on the field with the highest ATK + 100. This change lasts until the End Phase. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit Thief EARTH **** Fiend/Effect Cannot be targeted for an attack while you control an "8-Bit" monster with a different type. If you control an "8-Bit" monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, gain 1000 LP if your opponent controls more monsters than you do. Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP; Special Summon 1 "8-Bit" monster from your hand. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit Monk EARTH **** Rock/Effect Once per turn (Quick Effect): If your opponent activates the effect of a monster whose ATK is less or equal to the total ATK of all "8-Bit" monsters you control, you can pay 1000 LP; negate that effect and if you do, destroy that monster. This card can declare 2 attacks on monsters per turn. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit Ranger EARTH **** Winged Beast/Effect Once per turn, if you control another "8-Bit" monster, you can pay 1000 LP: Activate 1 "8-Bit" Field Spell from your Deck or GY, and if you do, you can gain 1000 LP. This card can attack your LP directly. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit Dragoon EARTH **** Wyrm/Effect This card inflicts piercing damage. Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP; increase this card's ATK by the number of other "8-Bit" monsters you control x 1000, and if you do, this card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit R. Mage FIRE *** Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect If you control a non-Tuner "8-Bit" monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP; gain 2000 LP. Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP and target 1 monster your opponent controls whose ATK is less than or equal to the total ATK of all "8-Bit" monsters you control; destroy it. You can only use 1 effect of "8-Bit R. Mage" per turn. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit W. Mage LIGHT *** Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect If this card is Summoned: You can pay 1000 LP; Special Summon 1 "8-Bit" monster from your GY. Once per turn: Gain 1000 LP. All battle damage inflicted from battles involving this card becomes 1000. 1000/1000 8-Bit B. Mage DARK *** Spellcaster/Tuner/Effect Once per turn: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to the total ATK of all "8-Bit" monsters you control; Destroy that target, and if you do, you can either banish it, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, or negate the effects of 1 face-up card your opponent controls.
