Kocrow17
Welcome to God Kaze’s second Card of the Week. Each week I will look at a card that is currently not yet released in North America and try to give useful advice on using it when it comes out. Can’t wait for the card to come oversees? Well I have provided a proxy you can print out and test yourself. This week’s card: Gandora the Dragon of Destruction This week’s choice was obvious to me when I saw first saw this card. Lil’ Yugi used it to defeat Bakura and used it again in the ceremonial duel. It has a great effect that truly gives it the title, the Dragon of Destruction. 1) Setting up the field.-The first and most interesting thing I want to point out about this monster is that it’s searchable via Sangan. Now, let’s try calculating this big guy’s effect. Say there is an average of four cards on the field at a time(not including him). With 300 ATK per card, that only gets us to 1200. Not too big of a number, is it? Since you can’t really force your opponent to playing more cards on the field without destroying them old ones first, the responsibility falls on you to strengthen Gandora. Your opponent can’t suffer from Gandora until you suffer too. But fear not, there are ways for you to gain back the advantage you lost. We will explore these in the next section. 2) Using the cards to the fullest.a) The first step is getting Gandora on the field. If you were reading Gandora’s effect, you will see he will not be destroyed at the end of turn if he is flipped face-up by means other than Flip Summoned. So, you can Tribute 2 monsters to set it, and when you opponent attacks it next turn, use Waboku to save it. Now it won’t be destroyed at the turn’s end and you can keep it on the field after you’ve used its effect. Another option of flipping it, and not to mention a much simpler one, is to use Book of Taiyou. Wether you choose to exploit this loophole is up to you. -Since he can’t be Special Summoned, and requires 2 tributes, the first strategy that comes to mind is Gravekeeper’s Spy. For those who don’t know, when a GK’s Spy if flipped, you can summon another GK with 1500 or less ATK from your deck. The GK most commonly searched for is another GK’s Spy. Flip Summon a spy, and get another. Two fast and easy tributes.-If you have no monsters on the field, and Gandora is in your hand, you want Stray Lambs in your hand. This card will give you 2 little sacrificial lambs. Sure you can’t Normal, Flip, or Special Summon during the same turn, but this is one of the strategies that would be used for the loophole I previously mentioned: You cannot activate "Stray Lambs" the same turn that you Summon, Flip Summon, or Special Summon. But you can perform a Set the same turn. So you can activate "Stray Lambs" and then Tribute one of them to Set "Labyrinth Wall".(Quote taken from Netrep)-Of coarse, there is always the option of summoning Gandora without triubting monsters. How? Level Conversion Lab. You just roll a six-sided die and the number rolled is the level of your monster. However, if you roll a 1, Gandora is destroyed. But come one, there is a 83% chance of you succeeding. b) Gandora is on the field! Now, how do we abuse his effect. To strengthen him, you’ll need to load your field with cards like Spells and Traps. Why lose your own cards? Well it isn’t always that bad of a move:-This strategy is may appear to be strange, but Ojamagic can help. You may be losing a card, but you are gaining 3 Ojamas from your deck (+2). Why would you want to add these creatures to your hand? They are now used for the sole purpose of discarding as costs. Not the best strategy, but one worth testing.-Statue of the Wicked can add an unexpected twist for your opponent. When this card is destroyed, by say Gandora, a Wicked Token is summoned. These little guys can inflict an additional 1000 points of damage to your opponent. So, if you have 2 Tokens on the field, you can go from inflicting 1500 point of damage with Gandora, to inflicting 3500 when he is helped by the tokens. Also, if you chose not to abuse Gandora’s “flipped face-up” aspect, the Wicked Token will provide defense during your opponent’s next turn. c)If you aren’t going to keep Gandora on the field, there is a last option, Metamorphosis. Morph Gandora into a level 8 Fusion like Cyber Twin Dragon. Not only will Cyber Twin Dragon do more damage, it will be sticking around. 3) Deck ConstructionThis is a short list of cards you should include in your deck. 3 Gravekeeper’s Spy2 Gandora the Dragon of Destruction1 Sangan-----------------------------------2 Book of Taiyou1 Monster Reincarnation 1 Metamorphosis -----------------------------------3 Statue of the Wicked Throw in the generic staples that every player uses and whatever else you can think of. I hope you all enjoyed my review. The third installment will be posted next week when we’ll be looking at Fiend’s Sanctuary. See you next time! petqwe
OK. I think that the effect on the Japanese card is:Pay half of your life point to destroy AND REMOVE FROM PLAY all cards on the field, except this card. So would the whole mechanics be different? I apologize for the bad grammer here, as I am not in a English-speaking country.

maddog15
very cool dude statagie with the ojamas, plus this card will make crystal beast more annoying, coz u activate its effect the first time and u send them to the spell and trap zone, then you can do it again, plus the later you do it with a crystal beast deck the more likely you would get rainbow dragon out, this will cause serious damage. i enjoyed the read so thanks
