If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). If this card is sent from the field to the GY: Add 1 Level 4 or lower Insect monster from your Deck to your hand. If you would take damage while you control a Insect monster (Quick Effect): You can banish this card from your GY; damage you take becomes 0 instead. You can only use each effect of "Shedding Cicada" once per turn.

I like it. Nice all-around effects, SS Summons itself, brings a fellow when it dies and gives a conditioned protection that might save you from death. It would probably have been too much if it were a Tuner, but I wish it had that ability. And I know this is YGO and not Poke, but how nice it would have been if it had an effect to Tribute itself to bring an stronger bug when it inflicts damage (yeah. with those measly 300 ATK) and also SS a Token based on the shed. Because, you know:

The idea behind its effect is that you use something like Multiplication of Ants to tribute it to add another Insect to your hand and since you not normal summoned yet you can bring out a new Insect so you can either Link Summon using those 3 monsters or proceed with your intended play.

Ahh, but of course, I completely forgot about that super old card! This fits perfectly, as it doesn't need to be destroyed, only sent from field to the GY. What's impressive is the level of those Tokens, I feel there's a niche for using it along with Battlewasp - Sting the Poison as it is a Level 2 Tuner that can Synchro with the Tokens or even Tribute Shedding Cicada if the Multiplication is not at hand. I understand this is more focused to Link Summoning, but I can only think of using the Multiplication to bring the Wasp and Synchro a Level 10 monster with the tokens, such as Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend, Ascension Sky Dragon or Leo.
