Celestial100
Mystic Miner Level 3 EARTH Rock/Tuner/Effect: This card can be special summoned by banishing 1 monster from your GY. This card's controller is not effected by the effects of "Mystic Mine". ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 Notes/Goals with card: -Wanted to make a card that makes Mystic Mine decks a bit more of an interactive game. -Can be used against Mystic Mine obviously -Can be used by Mystic Mine decks so they can use monster effects though obviously they then risk having more monsters then opponent and opponent being able to attack and use monster effects as well -Card is not totally dead card if opponent does not use Mystic Mine. Is a free tuner, worried that might be too strong however. Perhaps a restriction as to what it can be used as a material for? -Doesn't totally kill a Mystic Mine deck if played like some counter cards do. Card's summon can be negated by things like Solemn and it's fairly easy to kill by itself since low atk/def and no protection effects. Sorry if there's a clear mistake or card is just poorly made. First custom card attempt.
Darj
It's Special Summoned from.... where? Anyway, this card looks like trouble to me. It's a Tuner that is waaay too easy to get on board. Plus, Rock Type asks for Adamancipator support, you know, one of the current topping decks along Eldlich. As if that wasn't enough, its interaction wit Mystic Mine it's insane: if you use it against Mine, it lets you bypass what otherwise would be the opponent's win condition; on the other hand, if you run it along Mystic Mine... locking your opponent under Mystic Mine while you get to play as usual doesn't sound fair at all. By the way, this card, or any card for that matter, being counterable is not an argument for fairness. That's like saying " this card is broken but Solemn Judgment and exists and it's a 3, plus there are other negations, so it's fine". Nope, doesn't work like that. Low stats and no protection is not an argument either, I have seen decks lose to Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, Banisher of Radiance and the elemental statues, for example. Not to mention this card is way too specific by interacting with an specific card. I wouldn't consider this as good design because it is so dependent on a card and thus the card is as good as the card it depends on, in this case Mystic Mine. For instance, if Mystic Mine ever gets banned, this would lose half its purpose.
Celestial100
@Darj Oh, ok. Sorry it was so poorly designed I am somewhat new to this and will try to get better. Thank you for commenting and giving such in-depth analysis. I really appreciate it in my attempt to get better at this.
Darj
To be fair, it's not that it's bad design per se to make cards that support or counter a specific card, but personally I find it rather limited, and in a way blatant or hateful, so to speak. It comes off to me as "I dislike this card in particular, so I made this to specifically counter it". I would rather see a card that is more broad, affecting other cards, and including the target card in its scope. For example, something like Gate Blocker, which negates the effects of all opponent's Field Spells, and I did see it being used to negate an opponent's Mystic Mine. To give some suggestions, I would make the effect more broad as explained above, and you can keep the self-Summon effect, but give it a more difficult condition or requirement jist so it doesn't become the next best generic self-Summonable Tuner.
