Egyptian God Cards: Discussion

If the Egyptian God Cards were playable, how useful would they be?

  1. 1. If the Egyptian God Cards were playable, how useful would they be?

    • They'd own!
    • Specialized decks might be able to play them.
    • They're almost unplayable, but Peter Chi Chung Cho or someone might be able to pull off using them.
    • No way. Totally unusable.

What if UDE made the Egyptian God Cards legal for play? Though they'd be next to impossible to summon, their total immunity to card effects could actually allow specialized decks to use them in the hands of specialized duelists. Comments? I personally find them unusable, though specialists may find them playable.

I think total immunity only works once they're on the field, or in the Graveyard. Otherwise, Mai's Amazoness Chain Master wouldn't have taken the Winged Dragon of Ra from Marik's deck.

Oh ok then. Obelisk = Best out of all. Inferno Reckless summon anyone?

What part of total immunity do you not understand?

Gods suck' date=' simple fact.

Five-Headed Dragon destroys them and is much easier to get out.

Lol.

Well, no one is sure. I think that, due to my brother's slavish Battle City obsession, I've compiled what the effects would be should UDE make them playable. It doesn't involve absolute immunity in hands/decks.

The anime is the only source for the God Card effects.

Welcome to every GBA/DS/whatever YGO game ever made.

You're saying Sacred Cards is an acceptable source? Read the Des Volstgalph effect.

In the more recent games, the Gods have very watered down effects.

Obelisk's effect: You must offer 3 Tributes to Tribute Summon this card. When this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, it cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, or Monster effects. By offering 2 Monsters on your Field as Tributes, all Monsters on your opponent's Field are destroyed.

Slifer's effect: You must offer 3 Tributes to Tribute Summon this card. The ATK and DEF of this card becomes the number of cards in your hand × 1000. When this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, it cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, or Monster effects. Additionally, when your opponent successfully Summons or Flip Summons a monster with 2000 DEF or less, it destroys that monster.

Ra's effect: You must offer 3 Tributes to Tribute Summon this card. The ATK and DEF of this card becomes the sum of the respective ATK and DEF values of the Tributes. When this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, it cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, or Monsters that designate a target. When this card is successfully Special Summoned, you may activate one of the following effects:

* Pay 1000 Life Points to destroy one monster on the Field and remove it from the game.

* Pay all but 1 Life Points, and increase ATK and DEF by the amount of Life Points paid.

If the Gods were to be reprinted with the above effects, and with proper backs, then there is no reason for them to be Illegal.

To wilson91: How do we judge the Seal of Orichalcos's effect?

To Chaos Pudding: Wow, those versions of the cards suck. Thanks for the idea (fake Gods?). I thought the God Card effects were as follows.

All:

This card cannot be Set. This card cannot be Normal Summoned except by tributing 3 monsters on your side of the field. This card can only be Summoned by its original owner. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. While this card is on the field or in the Graveyard, this card is not affected by Spell Cards, Trap Cards, or monster card effects. When this card is removed from the field, remove it from play. Both players then send their hands to their respective Graveyards.

Slifer:

The ATK and DEF of this card are equal to the number of cards in your hand x 1000 points. Whenever your opponent Normal Summons or Special Summons a monster, decrease the ATK of the summoned monster by 2000 points. If a monster’s ATK drops below 0 due to this card’s effect, destroy the monster.

Ra:

The ATK and DEF of this card are equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the monsters tributed to Summon this monster. When this card is in your Graveyard, you can pay Life Points until you have 1 Life Point to Special Summon this card to the field. The ATK and DEF of this card are equal to the amount of Life Points you paid. During your Standby Phase, you can pay 1000 Life Points to remove 1 card on the field from play.

Obelisk:

You can tribute 2 monsters from your hand or the field to remove all monsters on your opponent's side of the field from play and inflict 4000 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. When this card's effect is activated, if there are no monsters on your opponent's side of the field, you with the duel.

The Egyptian Gods, in real life, have no actual effect and have no actual use in the game. Their just worthless pieces of cardboard and a waste of money off eBay in my opinion. Some kids in my school make up effects and make them extremely cheap. So far I think Obelisk is the only somewhat worthwhile card ever, with 4000 ATK/DEF. The rest... no. Both Ra and Slifer suck like the tapioca pudding that's been in the dryer too long.

In the anime, their the most powerful cards in existence and actually have significance.

Obilisk takes forever to get out, and while your trying so depratly to get three monsters oput, your opponent will catch on pretty quick and will build up their defenses while trapholing anything you bring out or something comparable. Oncwe he hits the field, you won't even have two monsters to tribute, not that you opponent wouldn't have a defense ready to stop any onslaught.

Slifer and ra suffer from the same difficulties. Slifer's attack is constantly changing, making it easy to destroy.

Also, ground collapse
