Well, 3) again, since it encompasses weaknesses. I can find out about the background behind the attacks as I hunt them.

"Is there any way I can help fight them off?" Mike offered.

 

"There is," Danny replied without hesitation, "but you'll need weapons. I can get them, but you'll need protection until then. This place is vicious, in case you couldn't tell."

 

"Fine, I'll escort the guy," Sonic grumbled. Mike had the awful foreboding that his relations with Sonic would be rather strained.

 

CHOICE Beta-1:

1. Follow Danny to get weapons.

2. Stay in one place.

3. Try and stall Danny from leaving.

2) is out - the man who strikes and stays in the same spot is asking for death. Stalling Danny is pointless if he's going to get me weapons. So 1). (although, trusting a ghost may not be the best choice. Better than getting fried by dragons though)

"So where are you getting these weapons?" Sonic bit to Danny. Clearly, he was thinking along the same lines as Mike.

 

"There's an Imperial outpost near here," Danny dropped his voice. "I plan on stealing the standard-issue firearms there. They'll suit Mike best for handling the drakes."

 

"Alright, lead the way, then, and try not to be too slow," Sonic grumbled, still apparently inconvenienced by the mission.

When they arrived, they were somewhat intimidated. Danny had meant "Imperial" when he'd said it, as he had "outpost" and "firearms." Though the ghost was phasing out his comrades, making them invisible to the various white-clad soldiers milling around the outpost, Mike couldn't shake the feeling that the Probe droids were looking straight at them.

 

"Once we get the guns, this should be easy," Danny whispered. "When we reach the courtyard, I'll blast a couple of Stormtroopers. Mike, you'll have to get their guns. I can fly us out of here, but you two will have to cover me. Deal?"

 

CHOICE Beta-2:

1. Protest the plan.

2. Accept the plan.

3. Chikcen out.

Hmm. The plan sounds dangerous but with a ghost and a speed-blitzing hedgehog it seems possible. 2).

"Sounds like a plan," Mike agreed, tensing himself for the upcoming operation.

 

As soon as the trio touched down in the Imperial courtyard (which was just as barren as the rest of the rocky landscape), Danny immediately de-phased. Sonic eradicated the security cameras in less than a second, and as the present Stormtroopers charged the duo, the halfa fired his ectoplasmic blasts at the soldiers. One was knocked out immediately. The other one, however, dodged the blast and began to attack Mike. Realizing that he was probably too close to the armed soldier to escape, the human tensed for combat.

 

CHOICE Beta-3:

1. Kick at the Stormtrooper.

2. Punch the Stormtrooper.

3. Knifehand the Stormtrooper.

4. Try and escape the Stormtrooper.

1). A kick is preferrable to a punch since the enemy is usually focused on your face and by extension your upper body. Althought it's almost suicidal trying to engage a person with a gun in melee, it just might surprise the enemy enough to let you grab the weapon or something. Trying to run against someone with firearms is also kinda stupid.

Despite the suicidal nature of fighting an armed opponent unarmed, Mike knew that running would only get him in trouble. He tried a crescent kick, which connected with the surprised Stormtrooper's wrist and knocked his weapon to the ground. The human lunged for the blaster immediately, firing the highly pressurized stream of plasma straight into the Imperial soldier's face. He was knocked back and unconscious immediately.

 

"It's a wonder he's still alive," Mike marveled, repressurizing the plasma as Probe droids emerged. Smirking, he picked up the other Stormtrooper's gun from the ground, aiming them at a pair of Probe droids. With Danny's ectoplasmic blasts, Mike's plasma shots, and Sonic's Homing attacks, they were dispatched in moments.

 

"That worked well," Sonic admitted as they began to fly back. "Although I still don't get it. Drakes aren't dragons. They don't have pride, or godlike strength. Why are they acting up, thinking they can take us on?"

 

CHOICE Beta-4:

1. Second Sonic's question.

2. Ask about Hypernova.

3. Ask about past drake attacks.

"I have no idea," Danny muttered, shaking his head.

 

"So... where are we?" Mike offered, curious.

 

"We're on the planet of Hypernova," Sonic explained, "in the kingdom of Akanelibe. We've been droughted for ages, we're starting to think it's Groudon..."

 

"There are eight kingdoms on Hypernova," Danny interrupted, "or at least there are supposed to be. There's just a big purple orb where the eighth one is supposed to be. The ones that exist are Akanelibe, Nonsensica, Darkworld, Rastordon, Gardenia, Dreamland, and the Ghost Zone, ruled by Marth, Mr. Game&Watch, Ganondorf, Skullker, Peach, DeDeDe, and Pariah Dark, respectively. Like Sonic said, Akanelibe, where we are, is suffering drought, and the drakes mostly attack here. Worse, there are rumors of a..." Suddenly, Danny stopped short.

 

"...siege," he finished feebly. A massive army of Waddle Dees, Waddle Doos, Gordos, Shyguys, Wheelies, Sir Kibbles, and various other minions of King DeDeDe were marching along in plain sight, headed for a nearby mountain range.

 

CHOICE Beta-5:

1. Attack DeDeDe's army.

2. Follow DeDeDe's army.

3. Flee DeDeDe's army.

2, follow DeDeDe's army. It's suicide to attack it.

"Phase us out," Sonic snapped immediately, looking extremely apprehensive.

 

"Yeah, we can tail them that way," Mike agreed. Danny obeyed, flying along their trajectory.

 

"Oh, no!" he cursed suddenly as he cleared the distant mountain range.

 

"What?" both of his passengers cried immediately.

 

"They're headed straight for Arkhalix!" Danny whimpered.

 

"Whoa, big sights!" Sonic seconded, suddenly turning pale.

 

CHOICE Beta-6:

1. Ask Danny and Sonic what Arkhalix is.

2. Try and get to Arkhalix before DeDeDe's army.

3. Try and stop DeDeDe's army from getting to Arkhalix.

1). It's stupid to go somewhere when you don't even know what that place is.

"Wait, Arkhalix? What's that?" Mike questioned, confused and slightly embarrased.

 

"The capitol of Akanelibe," Sonic said very quickly. "Fortress or not, I think... oh, no, is that Peach's army, too?!" Sure enough, an army of Toads was headed towards Arkhalix.

 

"And if I'm seeing right, Rastardon is sending its navy, with Skullker at the helm," Danny pointed grimly.

 

CHOICE Beta-7:

1. Try and warn the inhabitants of Arkhalix.

2. Try and impede the oncoming siegers.

3. Flee Arkhalix.

Lol, I think the best option is to quietly gtfo. Just getting into the city would be a problem, and there's no indication that the people there don't actually know that the siege is coming. I doubt the group could arrive long before the enemy became visible from the walls, especially if it's a fortress. At best I can see them trapped in the city, killed in the crossfire or even mistaken for the enemy. So yeah, I think they'd be able to handle themselves well without us >_>.

"I don't think there's anything we can do," Mike said cautiously, choosing his words.

 

"What?!" Sonic protested, but Danny silenced him.

 

"He's right," the ghost sighed. "Three armies at once. We'd better get out of here."

 

"But we could at least call reinforcements...!" Sonic cried. "Even if we don't get there in time, we can at least try and take back Arkhalix from the surviving invaders!"

 

CHOICE Beta-8:

1. Get reinforcements.

2. Flee and never return.

3. Alert the Supreme Knight of Akanelibe.

Ooh, the Supreme Knight sounds good. You'd think he'd live in the capital, but...

"We could get the Supreme Knight," Sonic suggested.

 

"I dunno," Danny muttered. "Getting Link sounds pretty risky. Even if he is still at the school..."

 

"Well, what have we got to lose?" Mike offered, determined to do something.

 

"...Alright, come on. Sonic, you'd better take us on the ground."

 

"On it!" The hedgehog hit the ground, dragging the other two behind him, and shot away.

Sonic didn't notice he'd been running over water until he'd stopped. They were on a volcanic archipelago. Directly in front of them was a courthouse-like building. On the other islands were a weapons platform, a warehouse-like structure, a pier with a dreadnought docked in it, a laboratory, and a giant cannon pointing to the sky.

 

"The Anarchic Archipelago," Danny explained. "The whole thing was developed into Smash Academy. Link J. Xalax, the Supreme Knight of Akanelibe heads the place. We only have time to check three of the six islands - I'm running out of energy."

 

CHOICE Beta-9:

1. Check the courthouse.

2. Check the weapons platform.

3. Check the warehouse.

4. Check the pier and dreadnought.

5. Check the laboratory.

6. Check the cannon.

Knowing Link he might be getting weapons. Go to the weapons platform.

"That island looks like a good option," Mike suggested, pointing to the weapons platform. However, upon further inspection, the isle was deserted. However, from the angle they were at, the courthouse more resembled a castle, with a single turret sticking into the sky.

 

CHOICE Beta-9:

1. Check the courthouse/castle.

2. Check the warehouse.

3. Check the pier and dreadnought.

4. Check the laboratory.

"I bet that place we just were was the main building," Sonic groaned. When Danny flew them in through the window, they were proven right.

 

"What's going on?" the Hero of Twilight demanded, drawing his sword in clear understanding of the dire situation.

 

"Arkhalix is under attack!" Danny replied immediately.

 

"We'll be there," Link assured them. "Inform the survivors."

 

CHOICE Beta-10:

1. Obey Link's orders and return to Arkhalix with news of arriving reinforcements.

2. Protest Link's orders.

3. Leave but flee the battle altogether.

Wtf, return to a besieged, maybe already conquered, city? Of course I'll protest. Link'd better come along. 2).

"I don't think we'll get there in time," Mike started to protest, but Link cut him off.

 

"Sonic will get you there in minutes," he explained, "and Danny can phase you two out, so you won't be seen until you're in the throne room. I've got an army to lead."

 

FATALITY Beta-11:

1. Leave and follow Link's advice.

2. Leave and flee Arkhalix, leaving it to be ruined.
