[spoiler=Riddle #1. Starts 4/28/08-Answered.]

Mr. Moody grumbles about bad time-keeping trains from morning till night!.

On one particular morning he was quiet justified.

His train left on time for the one hour journey, to Clarksville, and it arrived 5 minutes late.

However, Mr. Moody 's watch showed it to be 3 minutes early, so he adjusted his watch by putting it forward 3 minutes.

His watch kept time during the day, and on the return journey in the evening the train started on time, according to his watch, and arrived on time, according to the station clock.

If the train travelled 25 percent faster on the return journey than it did on the morning journey, was the station clock fast or slow, and by how much?

[spoiler=Riddle #1's Answer...]

The station clock is 3 minutes fast.

The morning journey took 65 minutes, and the evening journey therefore took 52 minutes, and the train arrived 57 minutes after it should have left, that is, 3 minutes early.

[spoiler=Riddle #2 Starts. 5/1/08-Answered.]

A man is found lying dead, face down in the middle of the desert.

He is wearing a backpack.

His ribs are crushed.

The post mortem shows that he died, suddenly, 2 months ago.

Yet no one has crossed the dessert for 3 months.

What happened?

[spoiler= Riddle to answered by The Acquaintance and Yankeefan]

Unfortunately his parachute failed to open.

He fell to his death in the desert.

[spoiler= Riddle #3 starts. 5/1/08- whenever i find a new one.]

Two convicts are locked in a cell.

There is an unbarred window high up in the cell.

No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape.

They then decide to tunnel out.

However, they give up with the tunnelling because it will take too long.

Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell.

What is his plan?

[spoiler= Riddle #3 Answered by TAG]

His plan is to dig the tunnel but pile the dirt into a mound so they can climb up to the window and escape.

[spoiler= Riddle #4 Starts 5/1/08-whenever i can get my head working again... ends]

The paragraph below is most unusual. How quickly can you find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so ordinary you'd think nothing was wrong with it - and in fact, nothing is wrong with it. It is unusual though. Why?

"Gatsby was walking back from a visit down in Branton Hill's manufacturing district on a Saturday night. A busy day's traffic had had its noisy run; and with not many folks in sight, His Honour got along without having to stop to grasp a hand, or talk; for a mayor out of City Hall is a shining mark for any politician. And so, coming to Broadway, a booming bass drum and sounds of singing, told of a small Salvation Army unit carrying on amidst Broadway's night shopping crowds. Gatsby , walking towards that group, saw a youg girl, back toward him, just finishing a long, soulful oration ... "

The above passage is taken from the book "Gatsby" written by Ernest Vincent Wright in the late 1930's

[spoiler=riddle #6]

I have one, you have one.

If you remove the first letter, a bit remains.

If you remove the second, bit still remains.

After much trying, you might be able to remove the third one also, but it remains.

It dies hard!

Ok, I think I got it,

Ok, here:

He left on time. But he was 5 min late. Allright. So, he then set his watch 3 min ahead. Thus, he was actually 2 MIN behind.

From what I can tell, the 2nd trip means nothing.

I think that the station clock was 2 min ahead.

Hope I got it
