Cannot be used as Link Material. When Link Summoned: negate the effects of all face-up cards on your opponents side of the field, then, increase this cards ATK equal to the number of cards whose effects where negated by this effect x 500. When this card or a monster this card points to attacks, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until after damage calculation. When this card is destroyed by battle or by an opponents card effect, Special Summon 1 monster from your GY with 2500 or less ATK ignoring its summoning condition. You can only activate this effect of "Shining Genesis Dragon" once per turn. ATK/3000 LINK-1 So SGD is a Special Link 1 that uses a Level 7 or higher monster from your Extra Deck to summon where it can nullify effects on summon to gain attack, attack while preventing your opponent from playing anything in response and finally bring back a monster from your GY with 2500 or less ATK when its destroyed. Ideally in Fusion, Synchro and Pendulum Decks this card can be effectively brought out as a pseudo evolution Boss monster that locks you into 1 zone pointing down as it cannot be used as Link Material itself. Or... it can be used as a follow-up by Summoning any Level7+ monster from the ED once you are almost done with a laddering play, turn that monster into this, and go for a sweet, closer-to-unstoppable OTK, or use a monster you already Summoned through the ladder for its effect. This can be achieved with relative ease by Pendulum Summoning said Level7+ from the ED as you mention, as well as cards like Destrudo, who can easily become a Level7 Synchro. Think of what Gaia the Thunder Charger does for Rank5~6s, but stronger. Indeed, I don't like this card from a design standpoint, mainly because of such application.
