Tinkerer
Hello, fine peoples! As I am making a character that uses this for an RP, I thought it'd be good for me to post this thread showing a few of his cards and explaining the gimmick. Really, the "gimmick" is simple and has actually been explored before, sorta. Battle Pack 3: Monster League was a pack that Konami released to support draft/sealed pack play. In it, Konami made a "Special Rule" that made all monsters all types. This allowed the format to work with a bunch of various monsters while also allowing them to print type-specific support cards (such as "The Warrior Returning Alive") without worrying that a player wouldn't be able to use it. Basically, that is what the hybrid-type is: a monster that is all types at once. Under normal conditions, this would be overly powerful, so (for the most part) cards of this type are usually Normal monsters or are pretty bad. Examples below: Dimensional DotLIGHT *HybridOne-dimensional object that subsists using energy from our world. It is unknown whether it is truly alive or not.0/0 Domino DogLIGHT **HybridA dog that has an unusual aura about it. It seems to be loyal to a being that cannot be seen.300/800 Ion StrikerFIRE ***Hybrid/EffectYou can target 1 monster you control and 1 card your opponent controls; destroy this card and those targets.1000/200 Wormhole BeastWIND ****HybridA creature of immense power that is able to open holes in space-time with its howl. Its stomach seems to be a wormhole as it never seems to get full.1800/0 Lash, Lord of EntropyDARK *****Hybrid/EffectIf this card is added to your hand this turn, this card can be Normal Summoned without Tribute.2400/0 ...yeah, generally pretty bad. This design needs to be carefully balanced, just because there is SO much type support that could end up making any "ok" hybrid monster broken.[spoiler=More Example RP Character cards]Living GravityEARTH **Hybrid/EffectChange all monsters you control into defense position. If a defense position monster you control is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: gain 600 LP.0/1600 Mr. QuarkLIGHT ***Hybrid/TunerA curious person who doesn't altogether seem to be there.500/600 Black-Hole EaterDARK 7*Hybrid/EffectIf a monster(s) you control is destroyed by a card effect and sent to your Graveyard: you can discard 1 card and Special Summon this card from your hand.0/3000 Quantum TesseractEARTH ****Hybrid/EffectThis card cannot be destroyed by battle. Take 500 damage during each End Phase.0/0 EnzlimeWATER **Hybrid/TunerAn odd material created in a lab studying the Reality Rifts. Is often used to patch the tears in space-time. It is unknown what effects this really has on different dimensions.200/300 D.D. TravelerEARTH *Hybrid/EffectIf a monster you control is banished: you can Special Summon this card from your hand, but banish it when it leaves the field.100/100 4D-KuribohDARK *Hybrid/Tuner/EffectIf your opponent declares an attack while this card is in your hand, you can reveal this card and activate any number of the following effects in order:- If there is a Pyro monster in your GY: negate that attack.- If there is an Aqua monster in your GY: change the battle position of 1 monster your opponent controls (if possible).- If there is a Thunder monster in your GY: Special Summon this card from your hand.- If there is a Rock monster in your GY: The first time each monster you control would be destroyed this turn, it is not destroyed. If this card is still in your hand after this effect resolves: discard this card. Reality RiftsField SpellAll Hybrid monsters you control gain 300 ATK and DEF. Once per turn, you can activate 1 of the following effects:- Banish 1 Warrior monster from your GY: All monsters you control gain 200 ATK this turn.- Banish 1 Spellcaster monster from your GY: Your opponent cannot target Spell/Traps you control until their End Phase.- Banish 1 Dragon monster from your GY: Inflict 500 damage to your opponent.
