When I first saw this, I was wondering if this was a parody but am amazed at how good this look plus with Pikachu we literally have Deadchu on our hands if you know what am talking about.

*Sees a Jigglypuff holding a pen/mic* That can't be a coincidence, as it can't be the same one from the anime. Though I have to say, seeing Jigglypuff with fur looks so weird.

On another note, I saw someone compare this to Dragonball Evolution, and we know how that film went.

The realistic textures and stuff on some of the Pokemon freak me out. Surprisingly, Mr. Mime doesn't look that creepy. The fact Pikachu sounds straight out of the games to everyone else versus Ryan Renolds speaking English is great.

 

I'm expecting this movie to be terrible, but I'll still probably go see it.

Ok, apart from the face, it doesn't look too bad, but yeah, I do think it'll likely be better than Dragonball Evolution tbph.

I am buzzing for this!!! Yes it will probably be terrible yadder yadder but who can turn round and say they didnt dream of things like this when they were watching it as a kid?

This looks so much better than it has any right to be. This might have a chance of being better than Dragonball Evolution, if only because it at least does have a grasp on the property. It's just a buddy cop movie with Pokémon, but that's really all it needs to be. I'm cautiously excited for this.

Didn't hear any Pokemon other than pikachu say their name, so fingers crossed that they go the route of the games where that's specific to Pikachu.

 

Kinda upset that Greninja is being slandered as some kind of villain, but hey at least it's in the movie.

 

As for the animation style, it's a really bold choice, and so far I'm fond of each adaptation, so I look forward to how it is as a whole.

After rewatching the trailer some more I think I'm over it. Just had to get used to it like with the live action Battle Angel Alita. Jigglypuff's still creepy, though. But I really love how fluffy Pikachu looks, he's so cute.

 

I also like seeing the little interactions of people with Pokemon, too, like the guy cooking using the flame from his Charmander's tail.

 

I'm actually gonna change my opinion, I think it'll be good. Maybe not great, but at least good.

It has emerged that part of the movie was filmed in the Scottish highlands and a Highland councillor said that the crew were good users of the landscape and they got on well with the people in the area.

To be I had to re-watch the trailer as I missed the London Underground logo at the beginning for some reason.

So I just saw it.

Kinda unimpressed tbh. You can tell they put much more energy into the effects and the lines for Pikachu. I felt like I knew the main plot points by the fifteen minute mark; I knew what was going to happen, I just didn't know the how.

 

I think the biggest flaw for me was that I never got attached to Tim. It felt really tough to tell when stuff was in-character or out-of-character with him. It felt like it was meant to be a story of growth, but there didn't feel like there was that sense by the end. I think ultimately it was because it felt like he was acting.

 

The drama, the fake-outs, even the big twist at the end... They all kinda fell flat imo. However, a lot of the comedy and the visuals really hit home well. Even though aspects felt obvious, it was executed well and the small world building easter eggs made certain points extra enjoyable.
