I wanted to pick Nidoran, but I don't know if I'll find a Moon Stone, so it felt like a risky pick. Hopefully this little guy pays off.

Ember made me laugh due to how much lower a power level it was, and I didn't take it, but I really should have. I'll never use Inferno and Ember is better for catching weaker wild pokemon...

... Or Bianca could drag me to the Pokecenter. Short tutorial later, we reemerge to one last scene.

 

 

Mom and Hugh's sister appear, giving me the Running Shoes and two Town Maps, one obviously for Hugh. Who already left.

 

Bianca leaves town and instructs me to follow, but I think I'm gonna find out Sebastian's nature.

 

 

Ah, he is gonna be a bulky boy when inflicted with a status condition. Neat.

 

 

Following Bianca gets me a free potion, which is nice... But I think it's time to wrap this up.

 

However, I think I'll save and quit first. I wonder...

Aaand we're back! Last time, we were heading northward, so that Bianca could teach us how to catch Pokemon, so let's join her.

Well, with all of the tutorial bull out of the way, we can continue our journey.

And here's our first trainer battle! I know he's generally a low level, and I have yet to grind with Sorin, so I hope he can handle it... But he can't.

 

The trainer sends out a Level 5 Slakoth, which does not have Truant as its ability, so I immediately switch to Sebastian.

 

 

LEAF BLADE BOIS

 

It goes down to a Blue Flare without fanfare, Sorin grows to Level 3, and we move on to the next trainer.

 

 

This I feel much more comfortable with. Sorin, do your thing.

 

 

Get rock wrecked.

 

Sorin gains a whopping 3 levels for this victory, and at level 6...

 

 

He learns this. Yeah, that's definitely better than ViceGrip.

 

Heading north also gets the second encounter of the run.

 

 

Zigzagoon! Not the most glamorous encounter, but it'll have to do.

 

 

Miss Maggey joins us with... a really weird kit, honestly. Not sure if I'll really use her after the early game...

 

 

We also get to collect an item after the battle, and boy is it a solid one. Might hold onto it for the late game, though... Unless that's BW1 only, and it's inaccessible in the main game of BW2, I can sell it for more.

 

 

The other kid has a Slakoth, as well, but Sorin handles it no problemo.

 

After that, we head north to find an item I know is hidden there...

 

 

 

Man, I'm preeeetty funking salty rn. I could have gone with Nidoran, but I didn't check the file, as not to cheat. Motherfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

 

Ugh. Well, there were two other items available, due to it being Autumn, at least.

Well, the nature is unfortunate... But at least Technician works with Shock Wave, meaning it's basically Tbolt with infinite accuracy, and Bolt Strike is a cool companion to Blue Flare?

 

But the celebration of a new member can't last long. We have a fight coming up.

Welcome back! We've just returned to Floccesy Town, and we'll be heading back to Aspertia for our first Gym Battle!

Luckily for me, Barboach sucks and just uses Aqua Jet, which means it isn't killing Sebastian.

 

Sebastian uses Searing Shot and manages to burn it, so the second Aqua Jet does even less.

 

 

And then it dies, by some miracle.

 

 

I mean, with this randomizer, they usually should... I'm just glad I got lucky here.

Then second girl, who... I forgot to take pics of the battle for. I was still upset over Maggey.

 

 

... Not without some grinding, I'm gonna bet.

Alright, ladies and gentlemen, we're back!

 

 

As you can see, I did some grinding. Made sure that Athena evolved, and now she knows Crunch, so hopefully she'll be helpful here.

 

On top of that, she's holding an Oran Berry... And that's all I can do for them.

 

 

Deep breaths, keep calm...

 

 

The first Limitless Battle: Aspertia Town Leader, Cheren.

 

 

Yep, about what I expected. The Mareep goes down fairly easily, just got Crunched twice.

 

 

Sebastian takes over here, aiming for a quick win, but... The Shinx just barely survives, and then uses Volt Switch, taking us to Cheren's ace.

 

 

Blitzle! I could have kept Sebastian around, possibly, but I switched to be wary... And it was a good thing, because Blitzle has Fusion Bolt. Ouch.

 

 

It goes down to a few Crunches, but not before it manages to land a Zap Cannon, which was reaaally unfortunate.

 

But it's okay! The Shinx goes down to a little nibble, due to being weakened. We've beaten the first Gym!

 

 

Thank you, Cheren. And, I...

 

 

Dedicate this badge to Sorin and Maggey. May they rest in peace.

 

 

He also gives us this, which is... Neat, I guess.

 

 

However, before we can head to the Pokecenter, Bianca stops us.

In the first act, we obtained 4 Pokemon:

We met our Rival, Hugh, and his starter, a Nidoran.

 

Our first death was Sorin at Floccesy Ranch, to Hugh's Nidoran.

Our second death was Maggey, to a gym trainer's Mareep.

 

Athena evolved off-screen during the first act, becoming a Flaaffy.

 

We completed our first Limitless Battle against Cheren, earning us the Basic Badge.

 

And those are the major highlights. With that said, let's begin the second act!

By the way, the screenshots on the Pokemon stats don't show the nature, so I don't know the nature of Sebastian, unless I missed it somehow, and only found Maggey's (R.I.P) when you showed her in the graveyard box.

After a decent break, we're back!

 

We have to go and rough up some of the workers here... Because their boss wants us to, and he'll give us a TM as a reward. Here's hoping it's good!

 

During the break, I went and got my encounter. What could it be?!

 

 

It's lord helix! Or lord butts. Or Omanoodles. Whatever you want to call him. Nature seems decent, and Sturdy is great.

 

 

As I began my journey through the complex, I ran into this guy. Let's see what happens if I follow him...

This funker knew Earthquake. Through sheer luck, Athena was able to tank and beat the sheet out of it. God, I was terrified, but it ended well.

 

 

I had also used Sebastian before swapping, since he could still use STAB against it and hope for a burn. Didn't work, but no one died.

 

 

And then this happened!

 

Sebastian is going to be a good bit more useful now, so I hope the gym is a type I can take advantage of.
