(1) Activate 1 of these effects.
• Send to the GY 1 “Salamangreat” monster that is in your hand or face-up on your field, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it.
• Target 1 “Salamangreat” Link Monster you control that was Link Summoned using a monster with its same name as material; destroy cards your opponent controls, up to the number of that monster’s Link Rating.

Given how much hand and GY recursion the archetype already has, it can definitely be used to dump something in your hand you want in the GY for a single pop, or actually reward you for going through with the Reincarnation Link strategy.

Only problem is that it's a Trap, a type of card that is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

[...] it's a Trap, a type of card that is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

That actually depends on the situation, stun archtypes do not mind them, rush decks (right now most decks) cannot really use them, unless they can reliably search them without getting out of their way.

You are pretty much never going to use the first part unless you are desperate, with their Link 1 being able to search the Field Spell without the investment of further resources (apart from one Extra Deck space) they have the capability to "always" use the Icarus Attack (without tributing attached to it).

This card is actually easily comparable to Blitzkrieg Bombardment, in that it gives the archtype something they needed in terms of defensive capabilities, they difference is that Blitzkrieg Bombardment is an once per turn interruption, rather than a one-time interruption tool.

Blitzkrieg Bombardment however is a prime Traptrick target, while this card is (currently) unsearchable (revealing the top 3 does not count).

This card is step in the right direction, however on its own almost irrelevant.

(And it is a good Salamangreat Falco target)
