Dova
Just because the rest of YCM's having all their boring escapades while not playing a convoluted and unbalanced card game, doesn't mean we can't have some exciting ones of our own! This competition, like that of the rest of the forum, is all about entertainment, excitement, but most all, showbiz! You are to design a card related to the art of performance, around the stars we players of the fine game of Yu-Gi-Oh have, with no other limitations but your imagination. It can be support for an archetype like the fun Performapals, or perhaps support for a mere single like The Tricky...or maybe you just want to go wild with something completely original, it's your call![spoiler=Rules/Deadline:]Standard YCM and Custom Cards rules apply in this section, as always.Written cards are fine, just no ugly pictureless images if you may. Kinda defeat the point, no?Even when going with an image, post the text beneath anyway, so it's easier for me to examine!Feel free to edit your card until the deadline, but if you've already submitted something, only minor edits will be allowed. Your call to be first in!No edits to your card are allowed after the deadline. No fake Types/Sub-Types/Attributes if you please! I'd rather not get a headache before the weekend. If I've accepted a card with some error that would prevent it from normally being entered, I will take the blame and won't deduct points for the error. We're only human, after all.Cards must be submitted by the 22nd of October, 11PM GMT+0 Standard Time.Leeways can be provided for adequate reasons, before the final deadline. Prizing:1st - 10000 points + 10 reps2nd - 5000 points + 5 reps3rd - 2000 points + 2 repsParticipants who share places will each receive the full amount of points and reps. Oh, and monsters, if I'm lucky enough to get any of you to participate, I'm happy to delay your rewards until this charade is over.I'll be judging this one myself, but if you want to help me, any help would be appreciated! [spoiler=Rubric:]Flavour: 20This is all about thematics, effect, and the flow of the card's various aspects! Any work of art is the some of its parts, and a card can be quite a diverse canvas indeed if you work hard at it.Utility/Balance: 15There's a fine line between a boring show and an overly extravagant one, but a true star can skip along it more easily than any tightrope-walker! This is scored from what your card does, how it does it, and when it does it, and the playability derived thereof. Just because Konami does it badly at times, doesn't mean you should sink to their level!Creativity: 13We can't have copycats in the world of entertainment! Unless, of course, that's your shtick. Not judging or anything. This is more about experimentation and effort, but simplicity or the easy way out wouldn't bode well for a further performance. Please don't aim for minimalism though; this is about EXTRAVAGANCE!OCG/Card Grammar: 2Sadly this must stay, as this is a part of card design, even if it is a minor factor. Our stars must be well-read, after all.[spoiler=Participants]Bolded names have submitted their entry.1. Tythe2. Black D'Sceptyr3. Melkor4. Darj...As always, entry is free! I'm looking forward to judging this and seeing how it turns out, and, as always, have fun!

Black D'Sceptyr
Lore: When exactly 1 monster is Summoned: You can banish 1 card from your hand; that Summoned monster gains the following effect, depending on the type of the banished card. • Monster: "During the End Phase: Change control of this card." • Spell: "You must discard 1 Spell to activate any of this card's effects."• Trap: "Negate the effects of all other monsters you control." If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand. You can only activate 1 "3-Card Monte Trap Hole" per turn.

Darj
I want to be in. The mention of the The Tricky gave me a couple of ideas: The Tricky 4WIND/Spellcaster/Link/Rating 1/EffectArrow: upATK: 20001 Level 5 or higher Spellcaster monsterIf this card is Link Summoned: You can add 1 "Tricky" card from your Deck or GY to your hand. If a card is sent to the GY to Special Summon a Spellcaster monster, or to activate a Spell Card or effect: You can destroy 1 card your opponent controls. You can only use each effect of "The Tricky 4" once per turn. This card's name becomes "The Tricky" while on the field or in the GY. Ruling: "If a card is sent to the GY to Special Summon a Spellcaster monster" applies to inherent Summons of Spellcasters. Its intended to trigger from "The Tricky's" discard for its Summon. Ignore Summoning Conditions. You cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except LIGHT Dragon-Type monsters. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 "Blue-Eyes" Fusion Monster from your Graveyard; add this card to your hand. Dova
[spoiler=Tythe - Abyss Actor Typecast Godot]Abyss Actor - Typecast GodotDARK 10*Scale: 44Fiend/Pendulum/EffectPE: Return this card to your Deck.ME: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned, return it to your hand. It’s a shame it barely interacts with the Extra Deck at all, not fueling it or taking advantage of it, but with Master Rule 3 there’s not much you can do about that. On the one hand, the preventing it from being an actual monster barely feels like a restriction at all, but on the other hand, I don’t think it’s intended to be a restriction. I think it’s just meant to allow it to be more easily searched, which, if I’m being honest, I don’t think the Deck struggles with. The end result of it being a monster while only being able to be a hand-trap just seems to clash with each other and be a little forced to me. Still, this takes a leaf out of the Field Spell’s book to enable the classic Abyss Actor effect, by doing exactly what it does except as a monster. Kudos on the monster as a whole though, as it forms a nice full picture, even if it does stand out in the line-up of monsters already in the archetype.Flavour: 16Utility/Balance: 12Creativity: 7OCG/Card Grammar: 1Total: 36[spoiler=BDS - 3-card Monte Trap Hole]Lore: When exactly 1 monster is Summoned: You can banish 1 card from your hand; that Summoned monster gains the following effect, depending on the type of the banished card.• Monster: "During the End Phase: Change control of this card."• Spell: "You must discard 1 Spell to activate any of this card's effects."• Trap: "Negate the effects of all other monsters you control."If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand. You can only activate 1 "3-Card Monte Trap Hole" per turn.Talk about a dynamic trap! An activating from the hand clause along with extremely versatile effects and a lack of targeting or destruction really opens up this card to be useful on any boss save for those with a blanket effect protection. With a monster saturation in Decks, the first effect is correspondingly the most immediately useful, but the second is extremely painful when it comes to bosses your opponent uses, for the same reason as the aforementioned one. The third, which I expected to be the most powerful, is actually perhaps the weakest as if your opponent has a powerful monster, as they shouldn’t need other monsters while they have a big boss, and if you do get rid of it, it gets rid of their problem. That detracts a bit from the overall picture of the card, but it’s still amazingly useful depending on the scenario. It’s very hard to fault this card, as even the unusual choice of effects manages to not stand out too much, with you giving a monster to take a monster, you losing spells so your opponent loses spells, and you using your trap to...trap your opponent into making a decision? I think.Flavour: 17Utility/Balance: 12Creativity: 13OCG/Card Grammar: 1Total: 43[spoiler=Darj - The Tricky 4]The Tricky 4WIND/Spellcaster/Link/Rating 1/EffectArrow: upATK: 20001 Level 5 or higher Spellcaster monsterIf this card is Link Summoned: You can add 1 "Tricky" card from your Deck or GY to your hand. This card's name becomes "The Tricky" while on the field or in the GY.Funny how there are only 2 “Tricky” cards, and both happen to be relevant, so guess you are lucky in that department! What isn’t lucky is this card matching up with the Tricky spell, and not making it seem so weird and just a one-time DM-style card. You have the flavor part covered there, even if there is a distinct lack of expanding from it. You can’t go wrong with a search, and its basicness is balanced out by a simple yet fitting on-send effect. It’s a pretty nice generic engine relying on a card which, unfortunately, relies on your opponent. Still, could be a decent as a side combo with its parent spell. This renders the actual monster rather useless, as while it’s not a bad card in its own right, this is much more generic, doesn’t have a cost, and is a 2000 attack Link 1. It’s a shame Spellbook of Wisdom sends as part of the effect, but there’s still plenty of options out there. So, it apparently says "a card" instead of "this card", meaning it's not a viable Tricky target. Unfortunately, that hurts it's usability in tandem with the flavour department as you're getting a -1 Summon with the Tricky if you search it, and searching the Spell is useless unless you lucked out and opened the Tricky. On the other hand, this card's viability really goes up, particularly in Dark Magicians where it works with the retrained DMG that searches DM on its Summon, and discards a card. On the other hand, you do need a Level 5+ monster first to Summon it, so there are better options. Even with that, it's a far cry from bad.Flavour: 16Utility/Balance: 14Creativity: 10OCG/Card Grammar: 2Total: 42[spoiler=Melkor - Tribute of the Gods]Tribute 1 "Obelisk the Tormentor" you control; Special Summon 3 “Blue-Eyes” monsters (1 each from your hand, Deck, and GY) with the same ATK but different names. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 "Blue-Eyes" Fusion Monster from your Graveyard; add this card to your hand.I think this references the time that Kaiba used 3 Blue-Eyes to Summon Obelisk the Tormentor in DSoD? Still, it suffers in the thematics department as I can’t quite see the connection to the performance theme, but it certainly succeeds in being extravagant and over the top. It’s very tricky to make an anime-style card that fits that area while still being useful, and I’m sad to say that this card misses that sweet spot by a wide margin. Obelisk himself is hard enough to get out, and considering that only the only time you would have 3 Blue-Eyes to Summon is either in a dedicated Kaiba Deck, in which case you wouldn’t have Obelisk out anyway, or in actual Blue-Eyes, which would lose too much to bring out Obelisk. The card itself is very reminiscient of the new Blue-Eyes card that does a very similar thing, bringing out 3 Blue-Eyes and locking you out of Summons. The adding effect is nice, but if you can pull this off more than once...I honestly have no idea how you’re actually pulling this off more than once.Flavour: 15Utility/Balance: 8Creativity: 9OCG/Card Grammar: 1Total: 33Final Results: 1.
