[GRN] Week 1 Spoilers

Surprised nobody's posted this yet; much less including myself. Up to date spoiler link is here, but will post more as they come in.

• Let's get it out of the way: shocks and Lantern reprints are welcome.
• Undercity Lich is almost singlehandedly making me want to build a Gitrog deck. Absurd amount of graveyard interaction here.
• Surveil seems great, especially on Dream Eater. So much value there, especially since it's a better scry.
• Glad that the obligatory 3 damage sweeper is multicolor this time around.
• Vraska's got great value for constructed: she doesn't have to sac a creature to +2, and that she can tick down twice after that is great.
• The split cards all seem fun... not sure I can judge easily their constructed appeal just yet, but we'll see!
• Also, I love new Niv-Mizzet as a commander. He's even more nutty than either previous iteration. Only thing holding him back is the color weight, but it's great that targeted removal replaces him.

Hopefully this will generate some discussion. An alternative to Snapcaster, that gets better if you run instant/sorcery type interactions (e.g. Melek). Definitely more and more tempted to build spellslinger now...

You can stick this card on an Isochron Scepter.

[Poc]

Double U is pretty restrictive. Interesting part of it though is that it lets you use alternate casting costs to cast whatever you use from your GY and it doesn't target so its pretty hard to interact with.

 

Boros is really getting shafted so far. Every other guild has some fun and flavorful things. All R/W has is a rabblemaster rip off and some medium cards for limited. Mentor is such a boring mechanic.

yea this thing is B A N A N A S. Its under costed for its stat line and it lets you filter through your whole deck at instant speed. Expect to see a lot of this guy in standard.

Lazav seems like a neat build-around... yes, he loses hexproof in this time around, but being able to switch things at instant speed gives you opportunity for shenanigans.

 

And the indrik is utterly adorable.
