Dokutah
by now, we already used to U-Extra Link (the 5 Monster vertical-horizontal pointing) but not long before via the release Flash Charge Dragon that the possibility of VEL / V-Extra Link (the 3 Monster diagonal pointing) is confirmed to be exist (with the aforementioned card has built in effect that prevent it...because otherwise why bother having it) although luckily to us beside the Dragon there is no monster that has the 2 diagonal up link to complete such conditions the questions is: 1)are we ready for VEL? whats the proper way to handle it from the design and in-game standpoint? 2) despite of its equal nature of impracticality and over-killing with existence of VEL validating diagonal co-linking to form Extra Link, would the 6-7 monster Extra Link should exist (the Left-Most zone with monster Middle Right & Upper Right. inverse for Right-most zone)? discuss
Darj
Woah, didn't know that card existed. I missed it when it was posted in TCG section. I find a bit dumb that it blocks Extra Link, but the card still looks good for the disruption. Anyway, I would say the game is ready, but not because it is powercrept enough for the V-Extra Link to not have an impact, but because there are tools to out it and decks/players can adapt to handle them once it becomes a thing. I mean, they already run techs and outs to the standard Extra Link, so a V-Extra Link shouldn't be too different. As for the 2nd question, I don't understand your description of a 6-7 monster Extra Link xD
Dokutah
As for the 2nd question, I don't understand your description of a 6-7 monster Extra Link xD its kinda like UEL but with extra detour on either one or both of Left-Most and/or Right Monster. require at least an upper diagonal arrow and horizontal arrow that points opposite direction of their zone
Dova
For VEL, just make them really hard to Summon or do more Flash Charge Dragons. Dedicated decks should be able to manage it with effort. Kind of interested to see a 4 card Extra Link though, with one side Up/Down and the other Up-Right/Down-Left or vice versa.6-7 Extra Link....sure. If you want to make it harder for a certain Deck to do, go ahead; just make sure you don't accidentally make good support cards for the 4-5 range. Seems like a cute gimmick, but I think it should be played around with caution in both cases. I simultaneously like Extra LInking for the dynamic it brings to the game, and hate it for what it does to your opponent.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
the biggest problem with the idea of upward diagonal arrows is that it allows extra links to be built with cards that provide other utilities. I think it's pretty clear at this point that a big reason why we have so many that point down diagonally but not vertically is because konami wants there to be a clear distinction between cards that can be used for extra link, and cards that can't.
