So I've been trying to think about how I could get this to not go the way it went last time, with no one replying even though it seems like LNs have never been bigger in the western world (plz tell me there's someone here that currently partakes)... how about (on top of me making a status or 12 once it falls off the recent topics) I just try some 'quick' thoughts on a bit of what I just read (spoiler tagged, of course, and others can do the same). Won't make a long list this time. Also thought of a fun little seasonal poll that could work with a general LN thread.

Finally get to see how he started thinking maybe too much of himself and why he'll never acknowledge the use of use phone as anything more than a cheat, being that at least some more of his ideas have succeeded. Cry to come.

 

Incidentally, the anime uses "cheat" as an English loan word, is that how a lot of them actually use the term? It's neat. I'm sure the people in this time have no idea what he's saying unless the context clues of him otherwise speaking their language now is enough.

I was at a store the other day when I saw the cover for Shichisei no Subaru. It looked pretty interesting and I might look into it later.

 

I guess, the only light novel I'm super interested in right now is How Vivi Lane Fell in Love. I read about it https://frogkun.com/2017/09/13/how-vivi-lane-falls-in-love/ and it seems really interesting, although I don't think I have the ability to read it yet. Unless it's translated somewhere.

Geh. Subaru only has the prologue translated, so it's really the only one this season without an English translation. This premise and what I've seen of the anime, I just know I'd wanna see more.

[spoiler=Infinite Stratos volume 3 part 7 (most of chapter 3, start of chapter 4)]

What a nutcase Tabane is... Yeah, not just because of this, but moving technology involving weapons along this fast without a care in the world... Dr. Stone and Planet With as of late have really been driving home how not great that is, and at her pace, this could be so much more disastrous than either of those... if this wasn't haremshit. At least Ichika knows when to step and be a man, the otherwise dense as all get out...

Well been reading through Tsuki Tsuki again. So, may as well put down thoughts, which may be remembered incorrectly.

[spoiler=Tsuki Tsuki.]Shinobu's joking and sarcastic remarks are probably one of the reasons I enjoy this series a lot.

In terms of the harem, Kaoru is by far my favourite, despite only showing up half way through volume 3. But having the same style of remarks as Shinobu as well as being a badass maid places her up there. Elni and Luna are probably next. Luna is just precious, and Elni's arc is probably one of my favourite in the series. I'm generally not fussed on tsundere characters, but Machina does amuse me with her responses, but I'm otherwise neutral. Can't remember much on Hijiri or Minami, but I believe Volume 4 starts focusing on Hijiri, so that may change.

So I read Kokoro Connect volume 1 part 7 (starts chapter 9), and it reminded me of how little I've actually read LNs until J-Novel Club became a thing. Being that fast with much better translations than I've ever read before, to me as someone who's always wanted to get into reading more Japanese novels, it seems like the best subscription service I've ever come across, and their app should be updating with dark/sepia modes and such soon, too. But enough about that, time to take my interest back in time quite a bit...

 

Now, there really isn't nearly enough different compared to the anime, and this is 1 of the few LNs I already read a volume of in fan translations, but it also reminded me of the 1 volume of Haganai I read. There was a chapter where they were writing for a play or something, can't remember the complete details, but... Yozora wrote about a certain something I shall not name... if you know what I'm talking about, cool, but it's just, I know that that's why that chapter never got adapted into the anime. 

 

Now, there has been one I read since then, just couldn't wait for a license and even though it wasn't the best fan TL I've read, was able to get through 3 volumes quite easily. Would really like to get back to more too... That would be... Eromanga Sensei (I did get through a bit more than that of Hyouka way back when, though). In case no one is wondering, the end of V3 was definitely not in the anime, so I'm guessing V4 is the start of completely new material.

ROFL Sakura's dad... The overlord of Xenoahs. I guess he would be something of a demon lord, but they don't usually bother with outside countries. He looks freaking hilarious and of course, the doting type.

Yeah, and so closes the mystery of the 9 wives... that the anime spoiled.

I really like how they've been switching back and forth between kidnapped Shinichi and Myucel's point of view trying to rescue him.

 

The entire family of Bahairam, yet still mention your household name like it means something... Add that to the list you bunch of contradicting asshats. Well, now this at least has me curious about Elvia's other triplet. I know she's also a soldier, but she hasn't been introduced yet compared to Amatena, who was here since the start of the volume.

[spoiler=Amagi Brilliant Park V1 P7]

Giving Seiya a whole month to work with and taking away Latifah's blindness were some amazing changes the anime made, but I'm still seeing what an enjoyable romp this is. It's crazy how Kyoani takes so little material and makes such workable whole shows from them. On the other hand, while I wasn't much of a Sylphy fan, this does seems to mean Salama and Kobori haven't been introduced yet, aw.

 

[spoiler=Infinite Stratos V3 P8 FINAL]

So the only real story so far seems to come down to autonomous and/or rouge units, but man, whenever that happens, especially this second time, it is so thrilling. Seeing them all work together to actually do damage to this military unit, but then it just using more and more of its unbelievable power... they all dropped like flies to the ocean. I guess they just almost hit it, though? Then of course, MC and not best childhood friend get themselves some power ups mid-battle, and all is well. 

 

Chifuyu suggesting Tabane did all this for ghits and shiggles, though, that is a terrifying thought. Certainly has me curious.

The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar Volume 3 Part 8

So here we are with the misdirection. Good thing he mentioned what it's actually used for, but pulling out the Kuroko reference, freaking nice. And I never liked that Bruno guy, good on Sigrún and Yuuto for telling him off.

Wow so Sakura has null and 2 magic elements. Demonkin are supposed to have very little aptitude but I guess being both the overlord's daughter and part human would have something to do with it. Dark means summoning magic, cat knight means pu-Garfield, apparently. Final ruins time! Laboratory acquired, terminal gynoid is named Atlantica, and... how nice, the last one knew of a way to do it without kissing... obviously the others knew too, and would just rather be lewd. And... there it is, they're all perverted, Tica just... has the hots for another type of person. Her creator in naked loli form. Or rather, any little girl... keep. her. UP. STAIRS.

That space director could sure pass for a middle schooler... possibly more so than the actual middle schooler (toku magical girl ala Precure) introduced. That angel though... drawing some Pekola parallels, but her desperate search of food is still quite different.

He finally did it. I can't believe there's a series where the guy actually spends that long hiding the fact that he came from another world. Good thing he told them on his own 'cause even though she didn't really have any clue, Regina being here now would have certainly made it more and more obvious something was up, I would think.

 

Take the Sovereign Core, and push it somewhere else.

A SpongeBob meme, really? That had to be the most obvious of translation liberties, but I'm loving it all the same.

[spoiler=Amagi Brilliant Park: Volume 1 Part 9]

Wow... I don't remember this part from the anime at all, but considering how important it is to the LN and how much sense it makes overall, it must have happened to some capacity in the anime. I know the stadium was used, just, the fact that the time limit was extended must mean the visitors needed also increased, so this one thing must have been a much smaller aspect, but still an important thing. So hectic, and a lot of the soccer fans went around the park in the meantime, so even if they didn't count them right off the bat, it did bring a lot of traffic to the park proper. Truly does feel like that miracle they need.

 

[spoiler=Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash level.11 That Time, We Each Dreamed on Our Own Paths Part 2 (WELL PAST anime territory)]

There's a chance Merry can be... saved? Even though she actually died... Well, even though how she died seems to severely mitigate that, this seems like the one LN where the MC actually has a chance of dying... if the premise isn't that he already died to begin with. Also wut? Jessie knows the No Life King's real name?

Gear Drive volume 1

Female lead. Spunky QT. Seeing all these ways the author makes this type of 'magic' useful has been pretty entertaining on its own. Adorably sweet family moments. Seems a lot like Black Clover at first (well, especially towards the end, actually), only at least this actually is some sort of magic, I think anyone who even remotely knows about Black Clover knows Asta has none. That, and in this length of time, there's no way Anti yelled anywhere near as much as Asta did.

 

Very solid first volume, quite promising. This is all that has been released so far, even in Japan, but I do hope for an anime down the line. As long as it is actually successful... Ah. Since the color images in LNs are usually such spoilers, I really hope I get to see a certain character actually drawn once I can buy this volume, I'll use one of my lingering credits for sure.

Did Loptr get drugged by Bruno or something? It's so sad that that obviously isn't the case, and that the real reason he isn't with the Wolf Clan anymore is that he just went insane... and he stole a bunch of Yuuto's ideas... okay, okay, I know he cheated and got them from future knowledge, and once something becomes known it's fair game, but still, all I can say is it was still such a dick move after everything.
