Frogman417
Or... "Planet Of" archetype, which makes it a more pure archetype, since there are already Planet monsters and that, including the infamous InterPlanetaryPurplyThorny Dragon and Beast. This archetype is about Level 12 monsters, which is usually only reserved for near unsummonable boss monsters(and Cardians) that don't have an impact on the game outside of the anime or for cashing on on peoples' nostalgia. This archetype will hopefully change that, along with giving Rock monsters some respect in a good archetype. So without further ado, here it is. Dova
Pretty strong, I'd say, considering a card like Jupiter can be splashed in any Deck as Discard/Mill fodder, providing itself as a Material and granting a draw. Indeed, it provides an interesting engine with Earth, as the latter searches the former AND recycles itself. Might be even stronger, if there were more than 4 Rank 12s, 2 of which aren't of any use at all. The Xyz Monster is as over the top as one might expect from a 5 mat Rank 12, so I can't really say anything more without more prevalence from the rest of the archetype. Welcome back, by the way! Frogman417
Alright, this should be done and good for review!
Dova
I would hit Pluto for granting a double search AND having an additional effect, but it does have hard once per turn, and is vulnerable to MST. However, what is a problem is the completely generic engine that comes up with this card, Earth, Jupiter, and Explorer. Activate this card, search Explorer and Earth, use Explorer to discard Earth to draw a card, SS Earth by discarding the card you just drew, search Jupiter, Link 2 with Earth and Explorer, use Explorer's effect to grab something from your GY by discarding Jupiter, SS Jupiter by discarding whatever you grabbed from the GY, draw 1, then Link 3. You've Summoned any generic Link 3 while your hand is completely replenished, and all you needed was Pluto. These cards are really easy to trigger, not to mention their gimmick...is kind of boring. Because it's so specific, and because you have really basic supportive effects (draw, search, SS from hand), the cards read like carbon copies of one another. The cards are so easy to trigger, in fact, that you don't even need Saturn, with Solar System doing it much better and 10 times more searchable. You're also missing some major opportunities for good ol' Rock support, with everything being archetypal really hitting any chance of this seeing any engine or anything outside of the basic engine mentioned above. The Moons are also just copies of one another, without ANYTHING differentiating them from another, and completely dependent on their respective planet. Last complaint lies with your...boss. Is there any point for the LP reducement? The only way to get around the Sun is A) Decking out (really hard to do with your monsters shuffling themselves back in) or B) attacking directly, in which case any monster Summoned which could do that can be immediately dealt with. The moment you bring it out, you've won, and your opponent may as well resign. It's not hard to bring it, with the wide selection of monsters that you can bring out to Summon it. It's just both very boring, and very unfun. Not a well-designed boss. Sorry to be so cutting, but I really feel you can do so much more with the concepts and thematics dealt with here. This just feels like a cop-out, and from your other cards, you can work on making these cards much better. I've been almost talking solely about creativity/flavour instead of the mechanics, but I feel any changes you may or may not make would completely change how they functioned, so I didn't say much outside of major points. Hopefully this is helpful, and not disheartening :)
