Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder [TCG/OCG]

DARK - Rank 8 - Machine/Xyz/Effect - 1500/2500

2 Level 8 monsters

Up to twice per turn, during your Main Phase 1: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; destroy that target, then, if the destroyed monster was an Xyz monster; inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK.

Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder [ANIME]

DARK - Rank 8 - Machine/Xyz/Effect - 1500/2500

2 Level 8 monsters

Cannot be destroyed by battle, except by "Number" monsters. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card: Destroy all other Xyz monsters on the field, and inflict damage to your opponent equal to their combined ATK.

So, what's the damage, in YCM's opinion? From how I see it, Giant Grinder could potentially have been a godsend in a format populated with Xyz spam, like Zoo or PePe, and the Number clause is actually relevant given Grinder's relatively low stats, in case you wanted to get extra damage in that just barely isn't enough to get the kill. That said, being able to pop any Special Summoned monster is what made IRL Grinder such a good toolbox card in its heyday, so the utility tradeoff is pretty massive. All in all, a solid Number both in and out of ZeXal.

Really, the only point I'd give the anime one is not being able to be destroyed by battle except by Number monsters. Plus, they still incorporate the Xyz thing in the real life card's effect if the Special Summoned monster happened to be Xyz. So if anything, they made the real life version better and it can be used in generations outside of the advent of Xyz, unlike an Extra Deck monster like Orient Dragon, which would've only seen use in its generation.

The main difference there is that Anime 15 nukes all Xyz but itself (including your own, if you put them out there), and IRL 15 can kill other things one at a time. That does give the anime one utility for clearing entire boards at the cost of a single Material if your opponent made a bunch of Xyz (again bringing up Zoo and PePe), but I do agree that the more versatile spot removal is definitely worth having.

The answers make no sense, either lying it would be better in the anime, it would be good or the changes mean nothing.

The card is horrible and with links realisticly (under normal circumstances)  allowing 1 or 2 other ED monster summoning it would be a joke.

The anime version however is not bad, it is so incredibly bad it is almost no joke anymore, the anime version would be among the worst cards in the game, you do not encounter xyzs on a regular basis (at least xyzs that do not ladder), if you do they are stacked with negations and facing more than 2 at once (in which case (exactly 2) the real version is still strictly better) your opponent is doing something wrong or all your effects are going to negated anyways, not allowing the anime version to get summoned or straight up negating it.

Even during the Xyz era people were able to see that this card was meh at the time (the anime version) and would only get worse, being completely unplayable once the next mechanic drops.
