Duel Academy Mk II - The Burning Inferno

Kai Winters looked around the stadium, other entrance duels taking place left, right and centre. He patted his deck, making sure it was still there, and made his way down the stands. His mind was totally cleared. He was going to win, because he needed to get into the academy. He didn't even notice the small boy who was in his way. He bumped into him, causing Kai to be sent to the concrete of the stairs. The short kid had bluey grey hair that spiked downwards steeply. He glanced up, smirking triumphantly, although Kai noticed that it was a slightly uneasy smile.

Kai expected the Bluenette to apologise, but instead he just walked off. Kai's spiky, unruly black hair bristled in annoyance, before he took a deep breath. He couldn't get angry. He started walking again, back in the zone as he wandered onto the Duel Arena. He placed his deck in his duel disk, his custom one which was much darker then academy issue, and looked up nonchalantly. His eyes widened, and for a moment his thoughts of winning were thrown around inside his head.

"Dad!?!?" He yelled, as he faced his father, Chancellor Winters. He had passed down his hair colour to Kai, although his hair was styled much differently, the spikes not pointing up but rather behind his pointed face. He wore the tight fitting Red Chancellor uniform, and Kai grimaced. No easy duel then. His father simpily smiled at Kai's reaction, his own duel disk activating.

"Kai, if you lose then I'm not allowing you into the academy" he stated, still smiling through the next word, "Ever!"

The whole crowd, who were all fixed on this match between father and son, gasped as Kai merely grimaced. There goes my concentration, he thought, before ominously drawing 5 cards like his Father, who gestured for Kai to go first.

"Looks like my future depends on this duel" Kai said, before smiling, "Ah, I love the taste of pressure in the morning!"

Up in the stands, a Blue-Eyes White student watched intently. He was the number 1 student, Leonardo Ragelius, which he normally shortened to Leo Rage. Everyone tried to impress him, but they never did. He had high standards, but he was good at dueling and that's what mattered. He also had a social life but one that only Blue-Eyes Whites could be a part of. As far he was concerned, this would-be student was like all the others. Good but not good enough.

Kai: 4000 Chancellor: 4000

"My move, and I'll start with a face down monster and one in my back row. Your move to Cyber it up Dad!" Kai said with glee as the two cards materialized.

"Cyber it up I shall! I start with Electromagnetic Field! This means that I can special summon Cyber Ogre, simply by tossing two cards from my hand!" Two giant poles appeared, before lightning jumped between the two, a giant metal monster stepping out of the light it created. The outline of two cards could be seen sucked into the electric before it dissapeared, "And I had quite a lucky hand, because the two cards in my graveyard are two Cyber Ogres, so I activate Call of the Machine Brethren!" The crowd let out expressions of amaze as two more Cyber Ogres appeared beside the other one.

"Let me guess, you're going to attack right?" Kai asked as he locked his legs.

"Great minds think alike!" Chancellor Winters said as one of his Ogres conjured a ball of lightning between it's clawed fingers and unleashed it at Kai's face down.

"Lady's and Gents, you know about Cyber Dragons, and you can see Cyber Ogres in front of you. But..." Kai paused for dramatic effect, "Let me introduce you to Cyber Wyrms!" Confused murmurs started around the stadium as the face down card holgram flipped over. There was a sudden blur of silver which zoomed into Chancellor, who cringed, before there was an explosion and the face down monster was gone.

Kai: 4000 Chancellor: 2100

Leo smiled knowingly, turning away. He'd seen enough. This kid thought he was good, but it was obviously already over.

"Cyber Wyrm 1 inflicts damage equal to the attack of the monster that destroyed it!" Kai said smiling. His dad simply shook his head.

"It won't matter son. You're obviously not good enough for the Academy. I activate Limiter Removal! Cyber Ogres, destroy him!" All eyes in the crowd fixed on Kai as the lightning bolted towards him, one of those pairs of eyes were owned by a newly qualified Jinzo Green.

"Shame. He looked like a good duelist too" She muttered.

Kai just laughed at the attack as it neared him.

"So predictable! Dad, I know every strategy in your deck, you've played me enough times. But you have no idea what's in my deck. If you did, you'd know you're doomed" Kai said with confidence as he held up his face down card, "I activate Scrap Workshop! This means I can bring back my Cyber Wyrm 1 in defence mode!"

"But that means..." Chancellor Winters muttered in astonishment as his Ogre's attack hit the cybernetic creature.

"Adios Amigos!" Kai said, waving in a child-like way, as the silver flash hit his father to the floor, his lifepoints dropping to 0 and the holograms fading.

The crowd was in stunned silence, before whoops and cheers raised the roof of the Test Stadium.

Leo looked back from the exit to see Kai taking in the cheers.

"Winning with two cards. That's not skill. That's luck" He said as he walked out.

Kai smiled. He walked to the desk where dorms were assigned.

"Kai Winters" He said confidently, expecting green or white. He nearly gagged when he was given a brown uniform.

"Kuriboh Brown" The receptionist said unemotionally.

Kai looked at his father behind him, who smiled knowingly. Kai fumed. Oh great.
