Syrian chemical attack survivor to Trump: I want to 'buy you a beer' A survivor of a Syrian chemical attack in 2013 wants to buy President Donald Trump a beer to share his experience on the conditions in the country.

 

 

Kassem Eid, who told CNN's Ana Cabrera he lived under two years of siege and bombardment by the Syrian government, said he was glad the President has attempted to do something for the Syrian people.

 

 

"I just want to tell Mr. Trump directly: I'm a Syrian refugee who survived chemical weapons attacks, who lived under two years of siege and bombardment by the government," Eid said. "I would love to, like, buy you a beer, and just sit in front of you and tell you how bad it is in Syria."

 

 

Eid also said he would tell Trump, that he "proved once again, yesterday, that you have a big heart. At least a lot more bigger than Obama because you actually tried to do something. We need real, long-term commitment to bring peace to Syria."

 

 

The United States, along with the United Kingdom and France, launched coordinated air strikes Friday evening on Syria's chemical weapons capabilities in response to an alleged chemical attack. In a speech announcing the attack, Trump blamed the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

 

 

On Saturday, Trump called the strike "perfectly executed," on Twitter, writing, "mission accomplished!"

In August 2013, then-President Barack Obama said the US had determined that Syria had launched a chemical weapons attack targeting its own people. Obama opted to seek congressional approval over the use of military force in Syria. But as CNN has reported, "when Obama considered launching airstrikes in Syria against 2013, he decided to go to Congress before striking, and the resistance he faced there convinced the president not to hit Assad."

 

 

In 2014, Obama did announce a series of airstrikes against what the president described as "ISIL targets in Syria," using an alternate term for the terrorist group more commonly known as ISIS.

 

 

Trump launched a military strike against the Syrian regime nearly one year ago targeting a government airbase also in response to a chemical weapons attack that killed civilians.

Obama did NOTHING and seemly looking the other way when others did stuff like chemical weapon attacks against their own people. Obama warns but never actually did anything. Trump will do something if line the sand is crossed.

Listen to what he said again. He DID say they were moving to the States against their will. That tends to be the case when an animal is gassing you with WMDs.

No, you don't get what I'm saying. I'm saying you make it sound like you think that someone's going to their door and going "Hey look, the States is accepting refugees so you're moving there now" and booted them out whether they wanted to or not.

 

He's asking for the states to solve the political situation in Syria that makes it such a terrible place to live, so they don't have to flee. He's not at all saying "Please, please ban travel so we can stay here!"

 

So again, do you realize what he's talking about? Because it really seems like you brought up the travel ban just so you can take a shot at people who don't agree with you, even though it actually isn't really relevant to this topic at hand.

Except not really? He didn't bash the travel ban, he asked for outside intervention into their political situation.

 

You're now saying this like those people didn't think the situation in Syria was bad. You do realize what "Refugee" means, right? Syria's been in a bad spot for the past few years, this isn't new.

Syria wasn't in a bad spot before Bush destabilized the ME completely and Obama started throwing out concessions to Iran and sorta Moscow

 

People have emboldened Assad. That being said, I still wish Trump hadn't done this

first up, the sentence: "If you really care about refugees, please, help us stay in our country" is ammo of a different type than you seem to be thinking of winter. the comment is not supposed to be taken as you shouldn't let them into your country, but that you should help them both remain and return to their own. and i don't think either side is against helping them return and remain in their home countries. the issue comes with the how, which is the reason this actually does count as a kick in the balls to anybody against the travel ban. if you can't run from the problem, then your only two options are to face it, or lose. when taken as such, telling the people who hate the conditions of their country to stay within their country, means they are forced to fight for change, or to get stepped on. there's tons of other tangents we could go on here, but i'll keep it at that.
