Speaking of spirits, I noticed that a few of the are also Assist Trophies, such as Knuckles, the Moon, Metroid, etc which is interesting.

I honestly wouldn't think too hard on it. My guess is we're going to have like 1000 so they are going to overlap. End of the day, these are the same as stickers/trophies.

Also, I really can't help but smile at the fact Piranha Plant is gonna be playable. He looks really fun, too. The Putrid Piranha color change when he spits the poison gas is a great touch, his recovery move looks really solid and controllable, and either he has a Bowser Jr. thing going on where getting hit in the pot is less effective, or when he's winding up for that long range attack, he has super armor.

 

Also, the Yoshi Stampede is a dope FS. I think everyone figured it would be something like that since they're ditching transformation supers, but it's really cool. Although when it was shown I was like, "Mufasa, nooooo!!!"

 

 

[spoiler=edit]Also Skull Kid is confirmed an AT on the website as well. So who does that even leave for the DLC? The big names that come to mind are Geno, Bandana Dee, Lloyd Irving, Banjo & Kazooie, and I'm still hoping for Heihachi Mishima.

Fair. Honestly, I think people are thinking way to hard on them.

I strongly believe that being a Spirit means nothing for being playable. They are the equivalent of trophies in the game and trophies in 4 got DLC playable characters. Much like trophies and stickers before them they are being used to give as much representation to Nintendo's and gaming history as a whole. I'm expecting over 1000 so it is insanely unlikely for any big Nintendo character who isn't already playable to not show up as a Spirit. The only thing I think is a hard no is AT. Mii Outfits hurt but I wouldn't write them off just for being an outfit. The exception is Rex who having as a season pass bonus seems like a strange thing to do if they were planning on him being a playable character.

 

As for other characters Mipha (or any of the champions) are very solid choices for reps. Dixie is very live and Ray could easily make it too. Rex is disadvantaged as said, but I can see him making it. As for other 3rd party characters, Sora.

Also, in case anyone missed the fine print, you have until January 31st to get free Piranha Plant, so no need to rush for that. Though I assume everyone who's interested will have the game from launch anyways.

Yea, it was SUPER greedy of a list. Personally I was expecting at least 2 more new fighters (suppose free one counts) and 2 echoes so it still didn't cross that bar, but I'm pretty sure my expectations were no in the right place.

 

Yea, this is a day 1 buy. Also likely getting all 3 amiibo so RIP wallet.

I've gotten a couple amiibo as gifts and I share some with my siblings but the only ones I've actually bought for myself were the Yarn Yoshi/Poochy and Knight Solaire, and those were just to own them more than actually using them. I don't think I'll be getting any of the Smash ones.

 

[spoiler=spoiler]There's most likely Sakurai bias with the whole Kirby saving the day thing again like with him and Dedede in Brawl, but at least it makes sense that'd he'd survive everyone getting Thanos'd. In terms of canon he's probably the strongest character on the roster, being insanely durable, having FTL travel on Warp Star, can bust planets by punching them, literally has a black hole for a stomach, etc. Plus he frequently defeats godlike entities that have sheet like reality warping powers or whatever.

I've gotten a couple amiibo as gifts and I share some with my siblings but the only ones I've actually bought for myself were the Yarn Yoshi/Poochy and Knight Solaire, and those were just to own them more than actually using them. I don't think I'll be getting any of the Smash ones.

The amiibos I got as gifts were: Chrom, Tiki, Meta Knight, Shovel Knight, Mii Swordfighter, Dark Pit and Palutena. The other 9 I own, I bought myself

[spoiler=spoiler]I mean, Petey Piranha has feet, and Piranha Plants have had them in other games as well. I think they're just roots or something anyways, not actually feet.

 

 

I really hope "I'm using tilt controls!" is one of those messages you can send before a match.

Kirby inspired the smash bros series. Without Kirby, there would be no smash bros.

This is an opportunity for Sakurai to flesh out his idea of what he wanted from the get-go, most likely.

Nope. World of Light single handily got me excited for Spirits. At first I was like, "eh, this is fine", to all in. It looks a lot more straight forward than Subspace, but the presentation is super on point.
