I've made a lot of status updates for a while regarding stories I'm planning, and I think it's best to make a formal thread. When I first started on this website, Fanfiction was a major appeal to me. I tried my hand at a few fanfics, but none got very far. Over the past decade, I feel I've grown as a writer, particularly in that I've since obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing. While I hope to one day apply to a more professional writing, I believe that, for all my time on this site, I want to revisit the various stories I've attempted, and even revise some. In particular, much of my motivation has been driven by @'s Grand Crossover Roleplay. I'm not sure what kind of writer I would be today if I did not join that roleplay, and for as long as that roleplay has taken, ultimately I feel that I've gotten a lot out of it. As such, here are a few stories I hope to begin within the near future: 1. "Digimon: The Seven Demon Lords - Anniversary Edition": Based on PokeLen's roleplay, where I played a character named Arthur. Ostensibly, I intend to heavily revise the original roleplay, to both expand the story, while also shift the focus to Arthur. I'm a little hesitant about taking this for myself and making it about my character and story, but ideally the goal of such a revision is to have a significantly updated origin for Arthur. This would effectively serving as a prequel to the GCRP, but I'd rather focus on it primarily as a Digimon story in its own right. The roleplay's tenth anniversary is next month, and so I want to do something. While I think the celebration would only mean anything to me, Arthur has still become a character I'm very proud of, and I'd love to look back on his character and find some way to introduce him to more people. 2. "Requiem for Avalon": While this would be a roleplay rather than a fanfic, I would be remiss to not mention it here. As with "The Seven Demon Lords", this is a story connected to the GCRP, spinning out of that, but would hopefully be its own thing. In a way, it would be a "smaller" crossover roleplay, while also taking inspiration from "The World Ends With You". The players and characters (Either of your own creation, or as with the GCRP, could be established characters from any other works to create fun opportunities for crossovers) are all deceased, but in the afterlife, they are playing the Reaper's Game. It is up to the players to guide their characters to a second chance at life. 3. "Yu-Gi-Oh! Zodiac Cross": This is one story I've tried my hand with before, but again, not something I've really had a solid idea for. Blake is one of my first OC's on this site, but he's never had a story that's helped him take off the way Arthur has. This story would revolve around the Western Zodiac, and my previous attempt at this story revolved around a Duel Academy with houses based around all of the twelve signs. However, I believe that concept is not something I could handle properly, so while I want to retain the Zodiac theme of this story, I want to utilize it in a vastly different way. These are just some examples to start this thread off with. I may present some stories once I feel more confident about actually writing them. I do plan to have the opening of the story take place on Earth, as I believe it's important to establish the hero we're dealing with before we actually get to the Digimon. So far thinking of either three chapters, or an extended prologue, and I'd like to know what'd be the "limit" before people expect their patience to run thin. My main issue in trying to get this story out is precisely because I worry about the length, and worry too much about getting it down "now" rather than worrying about editing it afterwards to make it more concise. Just force yourself to get something down on the paper, and tidy it up later! Another way to think about it is this: If you keep your pen in the same spot for too long, you'll just get a big dark puddle of ink. So just move your hand, and go with the flow!" Yeah, that sounds like great advice. Focusing on a single point isn't going to help, and pushing forward with the story would help me to go back, because now I know where my story is going, so I can feel more freedom just tidying up those earlier parts.
