~~~~ Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 you forgot that I nominated Tormented. My nomination got a lot of reps very quickly but no-one else backed me on that, leaving me quite confused. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Blake Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 you forgot that I nominated Tormented. My nomination got a lot of reps very quickly but no-one else backed me on that, leaving me quite confused.I will add it, but there is a very good reason for that. He is not an active member. It would be a similar situation to Night or Smear, complete with the same section. Even though his fixes are good ideas, and people support them, YCMaker turned down his purchase of the site and the team cannot act on his ideas. It's difficult to get people to rally behind him, for these reasons. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mitchermitcher Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 that's not really your call to make and hina i won't nominate u, prove that you can get in without my support!!!11111xd Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
I'm explaining why it didn't get much backing. I added it to the count, as I said I would. Not really sure what you're trying to say. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chaotic Angel Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 I'm gonna go ahead and add Tesability Black the nominating roster as well. She would definitely deserve the spotlight here. Whilst I did say I wouldn't be nominating myself, I wouldn't mind if someone else nominates me. I'm gonna see where this goes... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Phantom Roxas Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 I did give a vote to Giga, so you could add that as well. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ryusei the Morning Star Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 The tally has been edited to reflect these. (GigaDrillBreaker) Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 So, any word on just how many people will be promoted? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Phantom Roxas Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 So, any word on just how many people will be promoted? Judging by the opening post and this one, I'm assuming that only one person will be promoted, but there may be another election some time after this. Darj Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 Hope it's not too late to throw another nomination: ABCHe seems like a chill dude to me, we interacted some years ago in DuelPortal and I don't remember him getting in trouble nor causing it. Plus his latest initiative for an IMO much needed overhaul on CC section is on spot, and that shows me he has some good ideas and interest in improving the site. Not to mention that I see him fairly active in the site, at the very least in Misc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Hallohallo Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 Hallo shall include a nomination as well. *ahem* Yui, I choose you! I won't let you runaway from your r-responsibilities! Blake Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 The tally has been updated once more. I also want to encourage people to verify my results. I'm doing my best to get the most accurate results, but it is more than clear that I made a number of errors in this process. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BANZAI!!!! Posted January 17, 2018 Author Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 Another question. While it has already been highlighted that mods are not participating in the nomination process, will they be voting?Yes we will. As far as I know, the plan right now is that all the mods get a vote each like everyone else. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
(GigaDrillBreaker) Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_votingJust thought I'd bring this up as an option for how exactly to handle the vote if/when it comes to it. This would mean that the votes would have to be done by PM, but I honestly think that's an upside over it being a poll. I think we can all agree that FD is impartial, so I'm not worried about votes being ignored so as to change the result.A long time ago I saw Pika post a video on that method. Let me go fetch it for visual help:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y3jE3B8HsEThought I'd quote these here, for ease of access. Has the method of vote been determined? Will each member have a single vote, for 1 person, or will a system like quoted above be made use of? I'd like to highlight the advantage of a preferential voting system, especially in an election like this one. When there are clear front-runners, voters are often discouraged from voting for their real preference, for fear that 'their vote won't count'. Say, for instance, a member really really really doesn't want me to be a mod, and their actual favored candidate was, for the sake of example, Krow*. Now, with a single-vote system, they are discouraged from voting for Krow. It makes more sense to vote for someone more likely to beat me, such as another front-runner. Voting for Krow, in essence, would increase my odds of winning, as it takes the vote of someone heavily opposed to me out of the equation. This means that, even if krow had a large amount of previously unrepresented support, he wouldn't receive the votes from them. With preferential voting, however, this isn't a risk. A voter could first list Krow, then, say, Black, and so on and so forth. Placing me at last, it means that their vote worked to keep me away from the position, as well as more accurately representing their interests than a single choice would. Consider that many of the people who have expressed their opinions here supported multiple, if not several, candidates. For them to only choose 1 person for their vote to count toward could very easily misrepresent their opinions. If there is any confusion on how exactly the process of counting these ballots works, feel free to PM me, or contact me on another platform, and I can give a deeper explanation. *I know krow isn't a candidate, it's why I used him as an example. Right now, we're considering leaving votes to private pm involving all moderators in a single message. Members would cast their vote by sending a group message to each Moderator (this includes myself, Flame Dragon, Sakura, Night, and Zai) so that there is no confusion on our behalf. If every moderator receives the vote, there should be no question as to who was voted for. We'll then record these and relay them when the voting period has ended. I think when Flame is ready to close the thread this evening he'll have a final word to either confirm or deny this. I think it's safe to say he'll confirm it tho. (GigaDrillBreaker) Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 I have no doubt that the votes will be received and recorded accurately. My concern is that a system where each person only has a single vote will not accurately portray what people want. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
I'm doing my best to get the most accurate results, but it is more than clear that I made a number of errors in this process.I voted for Sleepy and CowCow as well, the rest of my tallies were counted! I think the method Parenthesis is putting forth would be the best approach to voting. If you get to pick four people, your top pick would get 4 votes, your second pick 3, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Super Chaos Sonic Posted January 17, 2018 Report Share Posted January 17, 2018 If you get to pick four people, your top pick would get 4 votes, your second pick 3, etc. Putting it this way, this might actually be the better way to do this. So thanks Fuse! Mathematically, a user could pick 4 people and have a total of 10 votes and then distribute them in the method/manner of 4-3-2-1. Actually, that is pretty a genius thought, Giga.
