Day three of Oregonians pumping their own gas

Recommended Posts

oregon what the funk

Do you guys struggle with it down in Texas too?

"I've lived in this state all my life and I REFUSE to pump my own gas. I had to do it once in California while visiting my brother and almost died doing it. This a service only qualified people should perform. I will literally park at the pump and wait until someone pumps my gas. I can't even”

*Rural Oregonians

As for me, I don't know how to pump my gas. If I was taught (shouldn't be too hard to learn by myself, but there may be tricks others could show me), then I'd have no problem pumping my own gas. And my fellow Oregonians who are complaining don't realize that the law is optional and that most gas stations affected are still going to maintain their old practices. So yea, I hope the overreactions are fun for you all.

But it’s useless.

Idle resources.

I actually researched the reasoning used in the 50s when the initial law came into effect: trained specialists pumping an explosive liquid. Safety concerns, it seems, brought the law into play. It wasn't repealed during the 70's oil crisis because of jobs.

Operating a stove can burn down a house, leaving on a faucet in a bath can flood the residence, yet I don’t have trained specialists using either of those for me to create more jobs.

Society evolves and legislation with it

I'm not arguing with you, just giving the initial reasoning. And do note while Portland may be weird and progressive, the rest of Oregon is full of traditionalists mostly.
