hey. i just wanted to know what bumping is, how do u do it, and is it bad. thanx :lol:

Bumping is basically: If you have an old thread that no one's seeing because it's so far done, then all you have to do is post on the thread and say `bump.' It might or will not count as double posting.

bumping is when you push a thread to the top of a list using a simple reply like, "bump", attempting to get more people to see it.... and as far as i know, you are only allowed to bump after 24hrs.....

When you post on a thread, the thread is immediately moved above the other threads, to allow the other people to know that the thread is active, and it might be worth posting on.

 

If it's while the topic is fresh, it's considered just mere posting. If the thread is near the bottom, or on another page, but it's recent enough (This place's tolerance appears to be no more than one week), it's considered a bump, which is illegal before 24 hours. People will blame you anyways if you're double posting. Just ignore them, but give up the bumping if people still don't pay attention to it.

 

If the thread is old, and I mean REALLY old, it's Grave digging. Thread's dead, just let it rest. In some forums, it's prefered to grave dig than to make another similar post, but seeing how SanjiTP locked a thread that people could still discuss on (and were actually doing), I assume this place is not like that.

The way I "BUMP" Is as follows. I copy the text of my Last Post then delete the Last Post. Then I Repost the Text + Anything extra I want and there you go! No Annoying BUMP Messages in your Topic :)

I do that from time to time. I'd call it re-posting. And that way, you can't be acused of double posting :D

 

(People on a certain forum prefered me to do that than quintuple posting)
