~~~~ Posted December 5, 2017 Report Share Posted December 5, 2017 So there are five variants of Very Cryptic Command with different effects? I feel like the original one is the best still. Notice that each version has exactly 1 option that is strictly silver-border. From left to right: Caring about number of words in a card name, caring about the artist of a card, More or Less, Book of Moon (actually wait is target switching a thing in MTG?) and the Spy Eye effect. Loving the volcano art. Confused about the Minotaurs. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Delibirb Posted December 5, 2017 Report Share Posted December 5, 2017 I love Silver Border. MaRo and the team really outdid themselves. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Loving the volcano art. Confused about the Minotaurs. I'm only not sure which is the best version of the 5. And I feel like the turn over is BARELY silver boarder. Ixidron is a card after all. Redirect is a normal magic card. The Minotaur is a black boarder card so they wanted to do something to make it more Silver Boarder. I love Silver Border. MaRo and the team really outdid themselves. Very Cryptic went from a lame card in the set to one of the coolest. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~~ Posted December 5, 2017 Report Share Posted December 5, 2017 Holy s*** they went all out! Are we sure that there are only 5 versions of Very Cryptic Command? Seems a bit odd to do 5 versions since the effect and the art are based around the number 4. Which Sly Spy do you think is the best one? I'm thinking of running it in my Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa deck. I like being able to destroy creatures, but the "facing left" part seems like it could be a sticking point in terms of causing arguments/ruling debates, so I'm not a fan. Honestly even though it's simple I like the extra damage. The wording "turn over" on the 4th VCC, presumably that means it can also be used as Book of Taiyou and get Morph creatures into their true form, right? And what about creatures with Transform? Would it turn them into their other form? What about Meld monsters? If I control an untapped Brisela and it gets targeted with that "turn over" thing, would the Brisela turn into a tapped Bruna and a tapped Gisela? NeoRWBY65 Posted December 7, 2017 Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 okay, there's a 6th Very Cryptic Command There's also some others, I'd suggest going here for all of the variantshttps://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/unstable-variants-2017-12-06 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bury the year Posted December 7, 2017 Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 Funnily enough, the variants of Everythingamajig each copy the abilities of two black-bordered artifacts and one silver-bordered.Giant Fan, Dragon Blood, and Contagion Clasp.Fool's Tome, Tower of Eons, and Spatula of the Ages.Mana Screw, Disrupting Scepter, and Chimera Staff.Manalith, My First Tome, and Tower of Calamities.Zuran Orb, Ashnod's Altar, and Urza's Hot Tub.Crystal Ball, Trading Post (only the goat making one), and Mirror Mirror.And I'm a super big fan of how they implemented this. Makes a lot of the less-interesting cards in the set that much more cool. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Delibirb Posted December 7, 2017 Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 My future Mary O'Kill deck is very thankful that the killbot "variants" have different names. I bet that was intentional. So presumably, all the killbots count as one card for pack seeding purposes, even they are in fact different cards for constructed. EDIT: MaRo has confirmed this on blogatog. ~~~~ Posted December 7, 2017 Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 worth noting that the set FAQ has been updated regarding the new variant cards. https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/unstable-faqawaslfaqpaftidawabiajtbt-2017-12-06 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Flame Dragon Posted December 7, 2017 Author Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 "Turning a melded creature over will result in the two cards breaking apart and forming two separate creatures, but they'll probably just get right back together even though she's too good for him." I love Mark. Curious what happens if the front half of a meld creature turns over though. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
