Cosmic Compass

When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon a number of "Compass Tokens" (Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) up to the number of monsters your opponent controls.

It's pretty likely Grinder Golem will be banned next list, and Gofu is at 1 already and likely to stay there.

Cosmic compass is kinda the Golem/Gofu of reverse. In the link era it's likely your opponent ends with at least 2 monster in which case Compass becomes = to Gofu. Level 1 tokens makes it nice for the linkuriboh plays.

Downside is it needs to be normal summoned and on occasion can be dead

Not something that needs to be put at 1, but DEFINITELY useful. It's essentially a comeback card, which is really nice considering you can't just turn 1 the damn thing and go into insane plays. Needs a NS but if you're behind I think you won't care too much.

Idk. Worth a couple dollars.

I recall back in the day, somebody wishing Ojama Trio was at 3 so that this could be 4 monsters in 1 card (or more).

Now with Links, that is even more valuable.

Ignoring Double Summon or Arrivalrivals, I guess you can afford this with the Gem Knight fusion combo.

A bit reliant on the opponent, which is always an issue, probably the main one unless the opponent is going for a huge board overextention, which is like, most plays nowadays.

The more cards they legit have to let you expand this card's tokens with, the more likely they can counter this play, sadly.

Aside from being searchable by where arf thou in SPYral/GUB decks, I don't see much advantage for this over phantom skyblaster.

Generally speaking, they give you similar amounts of advantage, but skyblaster works proactively, as well as on turn one.

Not that I think skyblaster is anything to write home about.

I ran this in Cyber Dragons for a bit a few weeks ago. Being a Machine Dupe target in addition to generating Tokens is pretty nice. You can Normal Summon this, use up Tokens for a Link and to make room, then activate Machine Dupe and keep going. Should be good for Qliphort Genius plays as well by using Tokens for Genius then Dupe to trigger Genius' effect to search.

Skyblaster normally nets you one token if you summon it T1, as I noted, this summoned going second usually nets you 2 tokens and itself is a lv1 body
