A question about Field Spell cards

Hello,

I want to ask a question about field spell cards. If I play a Field Spell on my side of the field while there is another field spell card on the opponent side of the field, will the opponent's field spell card get sent to the graveyard?

Is it so that only one field spell card can be active on the field of both sides?

You can have one face-up while your opponent has one face-up. Each of you basically have your own Field Zone. I think this ruling dates back to 2014.

 

Also, activating a new Field Spell doesn't destroy the old one. It just sends it to the Graveyard.

I understand the confusion. The original rules when I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh stated that only 1 Field Spell could be active, and when you played one, but your opponent already had one, send his to the Graveyard. But this rule changed when Pendulums came out, and allowed for both players to have their own Field Spell. Hope this helps
