ShimoHkun1
With AA having only improved with age this is just bootyful, they still didn't charge the sound drastically but more so adapted, and tbh I liked Danny more than Denis. Susie
They definitely have gotten better from their generic earlier material along with the other mainstream Metalcore band of the late 2000s, Bring Me the Horizon. However unlike BMTH I feel like AA didnt really make that much of a jump in improvement. With BMTH when they released There Is A Hell it showed off more atmosphere in their music and songwriting that mirrored the early 2000s Metalcore much more closely, Sempiternal was softer and much more straight forward however dissimilar to many of the bands that the album got compared to its atmosphere had much more weight to it and the riffs were much better written, and Thats the Spirit took a lot of time to grow on me but it eventually did even if it is basically Pop Rock. On the case of Asking Alexandria I just dont feel anything that theyve done, yeah this track is more mature but it just feels like theyve taken from other Pop bands that have gotten bigger recently and slapped on some Metalcore chugging. Still maybe ill listen to their newest full length anyways just out of curiousity but I doubt ill be sold on it.
ShimoHkun1
That's fair I mean i liked that's the spirit along with their other stuff, but one thing is is that if a band has a distinct sound, as they did with Danny in from death to destiny this to me showed development and a bit of change, not much but still different Also why does everyone bring up BMTH with this song? They were both Metalcore bands that came out at near the same time, got mainstream with the same crowd, and got the same criticisms from music critics. They were both the most prominent examples of scenecore and they both decided to change up their sounds near the same time.
