Realized from discussion with a friend

What if, boss monster aside, Weatheries aren't actually supposed to be the new Counter Fairies or Herald Lock

What if they were actually a Chain Beat deck

Weathery monsters are, given the proper patterns, very difficult/impossible to remove from field permanently because the Cont S/Ts let them chain to most prompts

The 1 searcher revealed so far is immune to Ghost Ash, and the Patterns are not only immune to Ghost Ogre, but they allow the Weatheries to dodge her as well

And with both Thunder Pattern and Cloudy Pattern, you'd be hard pressed to remove them by battle, but ALSO they get to poke you to death by ignoring your monsters entirely

I bring up Compulsory Escape Device, and cards like it, as cards that were staple in Chain Beat that you can use in Weatheries

Activate it, then use the Pattern-granted effects to banish all your Weatheries and have only your opponent remove their monster.

Instead of preventing the opponent from playing, Weatheries are probably meant to just not die and eventually grind the opponent out.

Yeah, that's how they appear to work. I mean, if they wanted to go full lock, they would need something like their own Soul Charge, Dimension Fusion, Machine Dupe, etc. to get enough Weatheries on board to Summon their Link3 and have some Weatheries to spare for the Link3's gained negation effect.

However, and maybe going a bit off-topic here, Chain Beat doesn't really win games nowadays, and Weathery got their boards to set up and hoops to jump, like requiring a Pattern on board in the first place; Snow does make it a bit easier, but still, I don't see them going too far with their currently revealed cards.

IDK, they could have worked really well as a Chain Beat deck if they had been a bit... let's say less careful with their effects. For instance, if Snow could grab a Pattern also when it was Special Summoned and thus creating a snowballing effect of Patterns each time it banished and Special Summoned itself, and if Aurora didn't give the opponent a card draw, then that would have been solid and threatening support right there.
