(GigaDrillBreaker)
Clickbait title is clickbait. Smear shouldn't be a mod. With one exception (in misc, for that matter) he hasn't posted since April. Early April. I think most people who actually red threads in this section know that I hold the staff to high standards, but it doesn't take much to see this infrequent of activity as a problem. Now, he may be more active on the mod forum, for all I know, but I know at the very least that he did not weigh in on the decision to promote Yui, so my expectations aren't high. He is no longer really a part of the community, nor an active visitor of the site. I see no reason for him to stay on staff, especially considering the team's pretense of "pruning out those that aren't needed" or whatever. Too many cooks et cetera et cetera. Now, considering Yui's promotion after dad stepped down, I can only assume that the mod team would want to hire a replacement. My suggestion for that position is Dae. He is extremely active on both the site and discord, is generally a positive presence (at the very least is more positive than some of the current team) and posts a nonzero amount in the section of question. Additionally, Dae is very knowledgeable about magic the gathering, and reliably posts content relating to the game, demonstrating a helpful attitude and professional demeanor in threads such as this, already acting as a sort of leader for the section. I understand that some of the current staff play as well, but I find Dae to be a better guide for members than any of them, at least in this respect. This isn't really relevant to graphics and a section, but I feel it greatly helps his case she considered for authority. Dae is an easy person to write off. He is very satirical, and the idea of putting him in a position of power is probably laughable to many people, but when you look at it objectively he is far beyond qualified. Edit: SMEAR REPPED THIS NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Right now, we are NOT looking for new moderators to fill in Smear's spot (or really any mod positions for that matter). If the need arises, then we will let you know ourselves. For that matter, Showcase and the whole of Graphics isn't exactly active or gets heated enough to warrant mod attention. If something does flare up, one of the other mods can address it. At present, only places that are active in Showcase / Graphics lately are either the aforementioned Showcase section with member drawings, or my GFX store in Shops (yes, it's open); the other stores are still there, but idk if requests are still being done on their end. Anime/Manga is usually tame for the most part and shouldn't require (much) mod intervention, if any. I know Flame and I go in there, albeit for specific threads like Sun/Moon and ARC-V / VRAINS. ====I don't know if he's busy with work, school or whatever other commitments that require his time offline, but yeah. we know about his inactivity in discussions and overall YCM duties. However, there hasn't been much to do in the mod forum lately, except address Dad's successor to General and other small things. I'll let Smear address this himself. Smear
I'll be honest, you have points. Honestly I'm not as inactive as I seem. I lurk here pretty much every day, it's just that there isn't too much for me to comment on. My sections are pretty chill and if there's ever a big discussion the main reason I don't post is that another mod has more than likely said what I was thinking. I do completely understand where you're coming from though. EDIT: Also another reason: I'm really invested in my job at the moment (I'm being pushed into a manager position, basically have to do a years worth of work in 2 months so I'm doing 40 hour weeks constantly). I check YCM basically whenever I'm on break or get home from work though.

VCR_CAT
You guys said this constantly, and then promoted Yui with no such indication, so I'm going to continue giving all the input I have. It's pretty easy to put 2 and 2 together that they'd be filling a position when Dad gives copious amounts of notice for stepping down for reasons that aren't due to a lack of need. And when it's not a democracy, which you've said a few times would be a very bad idea, how much notice would they actually need to give?
(GigaDrillBreaker)
Are you implying that, because it isn't a democracy (by which I meant that members don't have direct control over moderator action and that staff aren't elected, rather they are appointed by merit, but context be damned I guess) the user base shouldn't be informed on things that absolutely affect them such as this? And the mod team has said that them not clarifying that they were looking into options to replace Dad was a mistake, so I'm not sure what you are going for there. Smear
And the mod team has said that them not clarifying that they were looking into options to replace Dad was a mistake, so I'm not sure what you are going for there. Not clarifying that we were looking into wasn't a mistake (in my opinion, at least). It's not like the Mod team has to announce every detail on what we're talking about. At that point there's not even a reason for the mod forum to be hidden. Finding someone to replace Dad was needed.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
I'm just going off of what the person appointed as PR Moderator said. If his statement doesn't line up with what the team feels, then that's an issue its own.

~ P O L A R I S ~
Well, this is more or less what it says on the tin. I don't see what the site has to lose by Smear being mod. Inactivity might be suboptimal but it isn't harmful, and when Smear is here he's not a liability and seems very reasonable if this thread were any indicator. Whether Dae should be promoted is an entirely different matter from whether Smear should be demoted and neither requires the other.
Simping For Hina
Wait, I'm getting promoted? Why am I not told about this? I don't want that. I am curious as what pertains to activity if the moderator is still active on the site, just ghosting it. He shows up, but nothing warrants him anything other than that. I am sure if conflict arise, Smear will take place, but I Smear has been on most days and consistently. Mods don't have to post, he could handle Reports for all we know. I think the guy is fine, even if he isn't doing anything for activity purposes, he is doing his job when the job already runs itself in the end. I don't know about PR mod. There isn't much structure to how things are done and that is fine. Just update on what goes on and inform us of changes that could affect the forum in a bigger manner. That is usually what I want to have a say in. I also skimmed most of this thread so I don't know entirely of what is going on. Oh well. I think my comment is fine. I think my comment is fine. From what I could see, there was little to nothing to indicate that smear regularly visited the site. It seems now that I was wrong, but my assumptions were far from unfounded. It is one of the issues with moderators browsing YCM anonymously. I brought you up because the site could use more mods with personality, but if you don't want to be a mod, that's that, really.

It is all good here. Cool, cool. I still am for you being mod if you want. You're more apparent of what goes on here, example being this thread.
