Oh...that actually bothers me, a lot.

 

I like the occasional leak or spoiler, but this seems like an employee literally taking a picture of a print sheet for a set after the upcoming set, and that just rubs me the wrong way.

 

That said, looks like it could be an interesting set. I see they're reprinted the dual lands that come in tapped unless you control a basic land version (Drowned Catacomb, etc), which I like.

 

All in all, looks like it'll be a cool set, I just wish we didn't get leaks like this.

I hope we get spells representing keel-hauling or walking the plank.

 

Also Vanquisher's Banner looks useful. I imagine it being useful to help spam your field full of 0 mana Kobolds, plus it makes them a bit stronger.

I know yall know it already, but Wizards has some really serious internal problems they NEED to fix NOW with the fact that this keeps happening. To be honest though, I would not be surprised if we got leaks of this nature for Hour at some point.

My only thing is, why do this? Why do people honestly think this is worth getting fired over (because that's the only way this going to be fixed at this point, people on the printing line and people handling spoilers that leak stuff will be fired with no questions asked)?

This isn't people from Wizards. They contract third parties to print cards: my guess it was an employee of one of these printers that decided to sneak some pictures out, hence why the images are of poor quality. We've seen this happen before with Oath of the Gatewatch, as iirc the leaks in that case were from a hand-cut foil sheet, much like here.

 

That said, yeah, I'm disappointed that these leaks were posted. Set looks cool, but it certainly takes the wind out of one's sails regarding site hype, so to speak.

Hmm...the regular ones that just enter tapped are "taplands". And the ones that burn you for 2? Oh! That's why they're called Shocklands.

I was actually NOT being sarcastic. I really had no idea of the term "checklands". I've only really played Magic on/off throughout my experience with the game, and only got into it more consistently this past fall.

 

The thing about "Shocklands" was actually a 100% sincere sudden realization of why it was called "Shockland" (because Shock burns for 2, something I would not have known off-hand, but Shock got reprinted in Kaladesh, which is the first main set I bought cards from since returning to the game).

...welp. This is the biggest can of spoiler I've seen popped open in a long time. While I like sneaking peekies of things ahead of time, this just feels...wrong on all degrees.

Jace as a pirate makes me wonder just how utterly scrambled everyone gets in Hours of Devastation, though. Wouldn't be surprised if wires were crossed between all of the Gatewatch, because the pose he has...even if it's blurred, that distinctly looks like something Chandra would pull.

depends on local copyright laws and all that if that will really do something, i think; unless wizards threatening to take their business elsewhere is enough to get the company doing the printing to fire people.

it kinda seems to me that unless they have a reason to do so, they might not do that. cause you know... not everyone is honest and just and all.

while it sucks that ixalan's hype was killed months ahead of time, i'm personally super hyped for another tribal-focused block, especially with interesting tribes like pirates and dinos this time around.
