Poc
Artifact planes confirmed nutballs by nature? Nah, not printing good removal or interaction makes standard a dull format. Other than copter and maybe Emrakul none of these "problem" cards are particularly powerful. They might show up in low tier decks in other formats but they aren't warping them like they did standard. Flame Dragon
Nah, not printing good removal or interaction makes standard a dull format. Other than copter and maybe Emrakul none of these "problem" cards are particularly powerful. They might show up in low tier decks in other formats but they aren't warping them like they did standard. Removal and interaction wouldn't have done much to stop Marvel. Which is one of the biggest problems with it. But yea, no one is too sad over this which shows how disliked the deck was. Next announcement is end of August meaning we won't be seeing any more standard bans which is good for the format.
Poc
they concidered allowing duress and needle into standard to help with the current problems. Proactive removal is still removal but they didn't really put much of that in standard or the effects were too narrow and costly. Not having playable artifact removal until AER and AKH was a big mistake too concidering Kaladesh was a heavy artifact based block. I get that wizards is exploring other options for standard than the normal status quo we've had for the past decade or so but radical changes to a game like that need proper testing. Which is where wizards failed. Them dedicating a team to testing new cards in constructed formats is probably the best thing that could happen to magic now. Almost everyone at my LGS has stopped playing standard because their afraid that their deck and investments will end up being banned and we all know that's a terrible feeling.
