Flash Flyer - Sakura
I need to get a move on in Ultra Moon, seeing as I have been shafting it a bit to flesh out US. Still haven't gone past the school thing.
The Warden
I just beat Ultra Necrozma again, this time using X Sp.def to max my Incineroar’s stat, then an X Attack into a Malicious Moonsault to literally one-shot the turd with a belly flop. I also got another event Rockruff, this one female so I can breed with a male I got WTed back in Sun so I can breed in the egg moves it knows and also the Moon Ball it’s in. Sunshine Jesse
37 streak, can't wait to see what ruins it this time.
The Warden
With the Battle Tree... usually a single mon or an entire team that hard counters your choices. That’s typically the MO of those places. Also HAX crits/status effects.
Sunshine Jesse
My Porygon2 was fully paralyzed about 6 times in a row a few fights ago, so I know all about that.
The Warden
Yeah, the Battle Agency isn't much better. Like, I'm on Grade 2, and I just faced a full stall team of a lead Dusknoir with Will-o-Wisp, Pain Split, Disable, and something else. A Reversal/Megahorn Escavalier, and a Flatter-Roost Mandibuzz. Sufficed to say I lost because the choices available to me were pretty sheet.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Yeah, the Battle Agency gives out shitty 'mons at times. For grade 2, I only had option of Naughty Eelektross, Blissey (forgot nature) and Drampa; rest of the teammates I had were grade 0 and had terrible sets (nature is wrong, IVs are in wrong place by competitive standards, etc) I lost once today, and yeah, had to redo grade 2. ===Least I get to use Bisharp for grade 3, and its set seems okay. Was either that, or I take Goodra or Umbreon.=== Also apparently I can't breed event Rockruff in Beast Ball, but I could get it in Repeat one. * shrugs *
The Warden
I believe it’s random chance if both balls are breedable using the same species, with the odds skewing towards the mother’s ball. Also the team I had was a physical Tauros set w/ Life Orb while my partners were this honestly crap Mirror Coat Serperior and Focus-Sub Lopunny. The other two choices were Mesprits with the same set of Thunder, Focus Miss, Psychic, and Protect. In hindsight I should’ve taken the Mesprit. ~British Soul~
I meant to say "trial". The word "trap also has some merit for the situation; you cannot leave until you have beaten the trial, which he only tells you after entering. That makes me less bad about reading it as trap then, lel. Also, Game Freak have announced that a patch is to be released later this month to fix several issues in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. This patch will rectify the issues where the game sometimes freezes after you pick Litten, Wide Guard protects against all Z-Moves, the move Ion Deluge doesn't work at all and an issue where Pokémon who know less than 4 moves will forget the first move when being taught a move at the Move Tutors. It could have been the result of "Typoglycemia", combined with typos from my part. The only bug I've heard about, is the one with move tutors. It is nice to see they are working on solving the issue… though you'd have to wonder why it happened with features that worked as expected in the base game. Sunshine Jesse
I just had a close call on battle 41 where my Salamence was KOed by recoil as he finished off the last Pokemon. fuuuuuuuuuuuck i'm SO GLAD that doesn't count as a loss i literally lost to Redwhy am i so sheet
The Warden
Yeah, that'll happen. He doesn't have a big pool, but he can seriously funk you up. Also I'm going to go check the move listings for USUM, since i just learned that Decidueye can now remember Leaf Storm, U-Turn, and Phantom Force. So I wanna see what else changed. Flame Dragon
Finally started up US again. Guzma was WAY harder to avoid a KO against then he had any right to be. Though my skipping trainers in a bid to save them for after I get Vikavolt didn't help matters. Still, I did it. Next up going to finally get Vikavolt, turn back on EXP share, and catch Vulpix. Then I'll take care of all the stuff I've been skipping.
The Warden
Cool. I moonwhile, have beaten the game again and have indulged some breeding. It took 2 boxes worth but I finally got an Own Tempo Rockruff with 5 perfect IVs, as well as a shiny one too. So if anyone want some decent IV Own Tempo Rockruffs in Moon Balls with a bunch of egg moves hit me up, as I now have a surplus of the boogers. ~British Soul~
So I was looking at what will be my final team for US and I realised I'd have 5/6 before I leave Island 1 (on the other hand, member 6 will be caught midway through Island 3, so will have Larvitar/Pupitar till then), though I'm not leaving Island 1 till after I steal a King's Rock from a Hawlucha. Flame Dragon
I have been in hell. I figured getting HA Vulpix would be easy. First try and first one that shows is a male. Ok, I wanted a female, but SOS chaining means getting the gender I want is easy and Vulpix is 3/4 female. Eventually a Castform comes in and kills my Pokemon because it decided to use Weather Ball. As I've been talking about before if a Pokemon faints I reset. The next THREE with HAs were also male. Eventually Castform decided to live through an attack because 31 IVs and would have killed my Incineroar had it not been the affection thing (the Vulpix would have finished but weather ball did like 100 damage). Had I not taken account for struggle a struggle would have ended my run too. The gap between the 4th HA and 5th HA was also insane given the 30% odds. And then after ALL of that I got a Quiet nature. For those that don't know that is +SPA and -SPE. Yea, I'm not having a minus speed nature on this. I'm done. Trying again tomorrow. I'm also not going to save. My team grew +5, +3, +3, +4, and +5 levels as a result of this nightmare and to try AGAIN will result in only more levels. Also, for my next attempt I'm going to grab T-Wave from the Gardens since I'm pretty sure once a Pokemon has a status it can't send out an SOS. Flash Flyer - Sakura
IIRC yes, if you status a 'mon, it will not call for help. Still working on beating the surf spot scores in Ultra Sun (and catching the remaining legendaries that I can get to without having to transfer over / wait for Ultra Moon to get, including Necrozma), and actually start on island 2 trials for Moon. ====As far as I know for Moon right now, final team likely will be Incineroar, Lycanroc, Zoroark and I suppose three other fillers that I'll have to determine later. At this time, none of them have evolved that far, so...anything is possible. Starter evolved and is at level 20 iirc right now.
The Warden
That really sucks Flame. Have you considered doing some Mantine Surf so you can get a Leftovers from Royal Avenue? It's a godsend when it comes to SOS chaining believe me. Also, I also acquired my second shiny in less than 24 hours, this one being a shiny Makuhita I found while trying to get a Black Belt for my collection. Flash Flyer - Sakura
Most of the shinies I got were from Ultra Wormhole:2 SwannasStunfisk (supposedly I got lucky and it has 6 IVs if I ever felt bothered to breed it or anything)Nuzleaf (think I mentioned this a couple pages back or something)Got lucky with finding random Chansey while Atk training on Poni Plains, and then shiny Eevee from breeding for HAs (it didn't inherit it, but some perfect IVs too). =====Not actively looking because I don't have my Shiny Charm yet, though moving stuff between games is helping to fill the dex without having to raise another batch. Also, for my next attempt I'm going to grab T-Wave from the Gardens since I'm pretty sure once a Pokemon has a status it can't send out an SOS.Is there a reason why you specifically wanted a female? Males do pass along their pokeball design and hidden ability when breeding (though I'm not entirely certain whether this is only the case when breeding with Ditto), the chance is just smaller. As for inducing a status condition, it indeed stops them from calling backup… unless you are dealing with a totem Pokémon. There is an NPC that outright says it.I have taken care of both Lana and Kiawe's trial. That Araquanid wasn't easy to take down, considering its moves easily one-shot (with Leech life and Aurora beam being 4× effective on Inkay and Noibat respectively). My Brionne was able to live a few attacks, but could hardly do anything in return; Leech life recovered all damage she did. Using a combination of Hypnosis and (Z-power boosted) Air-cutter, I finally managed to take it down… after a few attempts. Marowak was far easier to beat. The Warden
He wants it for his team, not for breeding, which is why he is being so pedantic with gender.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
A sidenote that Vulpix does have a higher female rate than males (1 out of 4 Vulpix will be male, whereas other 3 should be female). So...getting a female should be a bit easier. Not sure if Flame (or rest of you) remember this fact, or in his case, he got 3 males in a row from 25% chance each. https://www.serebii.net/pokedex-sm/037.shtml ====
The Warden
I think it's well known by now that odds mean jack sheet in pokemon considering you can get fully paralyzed 5 times in a row in spite of it being a 25% chance, or me routinely missing twice in a row with 90% accuracy moves to the point that my prior Blaziken's record for hitting Blaze Kick was roughly 55-60% of the time. I firmly believe the game would screw him over by pulling out 3 male HA Vulpixes in a row.

It's a godsend when it comes to SOS chaining believe me. Health was annoying, but not THAT bad. The main Pokemon I'm using for this is Incineroar which resists all the attacks the Vulpix have and can heal itself with Leach Life. Is there a reason why you specifically wanted a female? Males do pass along their pokeball design and hidden ability when breeding (though I'm not entirely certain whether this is only the case when breeding with Ditto), the chance is just smaller. I'm weird in that I care about gender when I use Pokemon. I probably shouldn't, but I can't help it. So it took FIVE tries to finally see a female with the HA.
